Does anyone have a method or suggested way of converting/switching Windows 8 install from legacy BIOS <-> UEFI. Both to and from. The laptops I am talking about support UEFI and Legacy BIOS modes.

I ask this because I know it is possible to retroactively convert Windows 7 from IDE <-> AHCI mode by booting into offline PE, adjusting the registry to point at updated mass storage devices. Note these are both BIOS changes, so I realise this is something altogether different. Read here.

I'm asking because I'm lazy to reinstall the OS from scratch.Legacy BIOS so I can boot into grub2, UEFI so windows 8 boots faster.

As for the disk formatting, GUID and MBR, I would assume this needs to be taken into account as well.

I would have to guess that it's as simple as using the appropriate BootMgr. I could be wrong.

But what about the conversion between GPT and MBR partition tables?

Syslinux includes GPT-booting MBR code, if that's what you mean.
