a) wide screen issue.

The only alternity which is 'working' for me is CodeBox.
And that disturbes your IE. :whistling:

Peter

i use maxthon (which use ie files :whistling: ), i like maxthon in these forum business because when mail notification come, i open directly with messenger 8.5 mail with maxthon, and press the link to the forum site. Till boot-land.net, everything worked fine.

oki peter, i will use Opera with boot-land from now on,
i just tested Opera all with code, codebox, quote, and none, ;) Opera passed all wide screen tests, no widescreen issue with Opera (which made me proud of Opera again like several times in past).
In fact i use opera when i dont go around forum sites, it will be a bit annoying and i will do it just for you in return hoping miscommunication problems will be left in past.

inform me about any post number that makes you widescreen problem as i dont have anymore with opera.

;)

Galapo;

Here is a summary of what was going on when you were not around ;)

----
Opera is the best browser for boot-land.net
please inform me if you have codebox/code/quote issue so i will try to care about that, 'cause opera have none of these problems ;).
or maybe
all we use opera for boot-land.net :whistling:
(i originally use maxthon for other forum sites)

ps:
ie (so eventually maxthon) have wide screen issue with especially codebox but in all cases,
firefox have widescreen issue with code (Peter reported)

----
%temp% issue:
i solved the reason of the issue, no need to read above ;)
no problem or no need to add anything "4 - BuildModel.Script"

xp have a special arrangement for %temp% , so start %temp%\test.exe works nicely
everything ready for livexp
only 1 missing thing

livexp dont use "User variables for SYSTEM" when it logs on like normal windows.

just a nice test for you to see what is going on:

open live xp,
open a command windows, and write
echo %temp%
and press enter
you will see B:
close this command window

than my computer-->right click-->Properties-->Advanced-->Environment Variables
just click OK than OK again.
now open a command windows, and write
echo %temp%
and press enter
you will see B:\DOCUME~1\DEFAUL~1\LOCALS~1\tEMP
as it should be in the begining.

it will be nice i think to put sth like "refresh env variables" or "rescan env variables" or "add user variables" at startup, but i couldnt find one (tried many things, but my knowledge and luck ended this point)

:) ;)

Hi Lancelot,

Thanks for the summary!

Regarding browser, I use Firefox, same as Peter.

livexp dont use "User variables for SYSTEM" when it logs on like normal windows.

Yes, I realise that's the issue you've raised. However, this

it will be nice i think to put sth like "refresh env variables" or "rescan env variables" or "add user variables" at startup, but i couldnt find one (tried many things, but my knowledge and luck ended this point)

simply does not work in limited PE environment. I tried this AutoIt code for test:

$temp = RegRead("HKCU\Environment","TEMP")

$tmp = RegRead("HKCU\Environment","TMP")

RegWrite("HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment","TEMP","REG_EXPAND_SZ",$temp)

RegWrite("HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment","TMP","REG_EXPAND_SZ",$tmp)

EnvUpdate()

AutoItSetOption("ExpandEnvStrings",1)

$temp = RegRead("HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment","TEMP")

$tmp = RegRead("HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment","TMP")

If FileExists($temp) = 0 Then DirCreate($temp)

Although new variable is written and updated, it is in actual fact not updated and available to the system. In other words, the WM_SETTINGCHANGE broadcast by EnvUpdate() function does not work under PE.

Only way to update system variables is to restart the shell, in this case explorer.exe.

Regards,
Galapo.

#0: %Temp% different from Ram drive root NEEDS BootSDI. The 'normal' PE has a timing issue wich ends with a failure when installing browseui.dll Here %Temp% points to a directory which is not yet existant at that time.

Not if ModelRam is unpacked earlier. For example, change
RegWrite,"HKLM",0x1,"WB-Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx\999","998","hiderun /w ModelRam -o%RAMDriveLetter%"
to this
RegWrite,"HKLM",0x1,"WB-Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx\000","ModelRam","hiderun /w ModelRam -o%RAMDriveLetter%"

Galapo.

Internal Server Error is horrendous today!

thanks for info and autoit script, i will look at it a little more today if no success not anymore

Don't worry, I've got something working, but can't get you to test just yet as it requires a LiveXP script update, but I can't get the server updated: http://www.911cd.net...o...st&p=149018

Finally! I got the files uploaded to the livexp server.

OK, please test the modified buildModel script I've attached. There's a couple of new options on the script interface applicable to what we've been discussing. If testing with fbwf with settings to be placed on %systemdrive% rather than a ramdrive, you'll need the latest CreateISO script from the LiveXP server.

Regards,
Galapo.

What i wrote to 911cdnet:
Galapo:

""Internal Server Error" is horrendous today."

yep, i have the same comment

4 - BuildModel.Script version 55 didnt solve the "installation failed with enu source issue" i reported
(i have original 4 - BuildModel.Script version 54 too, which is used when i sent log files before)

ps: i also tested with WinBuilder075_Beta4h

Peter:
winbuilder.exe which is in your bootland signature have version beta 4l now which is 825.856 bytes , but this winbuilder.exe dont work (gives error of source file)

the previous winbuilder.exe i downloaded from your signature have version beta 4l too which is 825.344 bytes and which works nice

also, just for info, i dont use bartpe converted plugins during tests as can be seen in log files.

i will make a full download and test again, sorry i couldnt made it before :whistling:

ps: can you write your infconvert.ini content here? (i made tests also with deleting this)

Peter
i made downloads of new scripts yesterday, i am very carelful and take detailed notes and make backups of what i do or not, i couldnt made a fresh download and reported here. I reported with the best i can. i cant go back to previous stage of all 43 downloaded new scripts as there was no feature of what i wrote here http://www.boot-land...?...ost&p=41452

That depends on your cached hives.

Before trying a new version, you must delete Workbench\LiveXP\Cache\Prebuild.

I do not get the error with beta 4 h and will try i, j, k now. But restoring single files with Retrospect takes a while (some minutes each) ...

Now I have to do some things outside for one or two hours.
So no reply that time ...

I cant go back to previous stage of all 43 downloaded new scripts as there was no feature of what i wrote here

Script changes were basically interface changes in line with the classic theme issue. FileZilla was updated to a newer version, and the new locale script was added. That's all, so it would seem to not be influencing your source issue.

Galapo.

"Do not refresh shortcuts on ISO boot" enabled default necessarry??

-
also another question about:

[Convert-Info]
If,NotExistFile,%ConvertIni%,FileCreateBlank,%ConvertIni%

can there be a "always create a new InfConvert.ini" option (exist or not) as i try diff source (xp-2k3) all time ?

"Do not refresh shortcuts on ISO boot" enabled default necessarry??

Personal preference. I've uploaded my local version with options at the time selected (I rarely enable the refresh shortcuts myself). On delivery of buildmodel script update to the livexp server, the option is always unchecked, though.

[Convert-Info]
If,NotExistFile,%ConvertIni%,FileCreateBlank,%ConvertIni%

can there be a "always create a new InfConvert.ini" option (exist or not) as i try diff source (xp-2k3) all time ?

I have no idea, as that's all Peter's stuff. I haven't even tried dynamic bartpe plugins yet! Besides, I don't actually have much of a reason to as I've converted everything I need across to WB.

Galapo.

me too but not by rewriting, i already converted everything i used with winbuilder's bartpe converter, and made required fixes, but some converts are dependant to InfConvert.ini, although i can make them (i guess) independent of infconvert.ini but i left them the way it is.

anyway, it will be nice to have "always create a new InfConvert.ini" option if you like :whistling:

and also, ;) about bartstuff, i converted evertyhing with wb but also left .inf files (deselected) for nostalgic reasons ;)

-
also i noticed sth important now:
"set %temp% variable to user temp folder" should be deselected by default,

in fact it is a wrong option,
in real windows system variable for temp is C:\Windows\Temp and making it to B:\ with livexp makes everthing work.
but
as this options makes system variable to "B:\Documents and settings\default user\local settings\temp"
some errors occur, try double click "my computer" on desktop, or right click on desktop, or try search with explorer,
and more seriously
some cmd syntax wont work now
for example:
try this cmd after starting livexp:
copy X:\modelram.exe %temp%
you will see it wont work
than my computer-->right click-->Properties-->Advanced-->Environment Variables
just click OK than OK again.
open a new command window and use same command again
copy X:\modelram.exe %temp%
you will see it will work

Changing temp/tmp of system variables from B:\ to anything makes gui+cmd error

to prevent this i used B:\Temp and made trials but this time cmd error gone but gui errors remain.
(in fact i think it is more serious than gui but i called it gui error)

shortly, leave system variables temp/tmp B:\ (ramdrive), it has no harm and it makes things work
only missing thing is activating user variables after loggin in

--
i noticed sth, there is erdroot.exe, when i use it, it also activates user variables and fix %temp% issue,
for erdroot.exe, take "ERD Commander 2002 - XPE Edition" from http://oss.netfarm.i...npe/plugins.php,
i hope this info helps ;)

also i noticed sth important now:
"set %temp% variable to user temp folder" should be deselected by default,

Well, that depends, I guess, on whether you want %temp% set to %userprofile%\local settings\temp: having the option selected sets %temp% to %userprofile%\local settings\temp. No gui or cmd errors, this way. But you do need writable %temp% early in boot either with ImDisk v.15 or new CreateISO script if using fbwf.

i noticed sth, there is erdroot.exe, when i use it, it also activates user variables and fix %temp% issue,

Thanks for that, I'll take a look. It could be the easier way out.

Regards,
Galapo.
