i am still downloading new scripts (not all in one, with groups) and tryin them to see everthing all right.

Thanks for that, I appreciate it. I've tested what is selected by default.

Galapo.

-
Power Defragmenter Gui okey now :whistling:

-
when starting smartftp it gives this error:
smartftp expiration - this smartftp build is about to expire

about ftp client stuff, do we need to be smart as we are already ;) zilla ;) ;)

-
also i dont think DriveSnapshot having a desktop shortcut is not needed as it expires all the time, of course final decision is yours.

-
still have about 20 scripts to check ;)

edit: forget to write, also smartftp dont start after warning.

when starting smartftp it gives this error:
smartftp expiration - this smartftp build is about to expire

I know nothing about it as I don't use it myself and it was a script already in the project when I arrived. So it's in there for historical reasons, I guess, so can be removed I think.

also i dont think DriveSnapshot having a desktop shortcut is not needed as it expires all the time, of course final decision is yours.

Sorry, that's there from my local version since DriveSnapshot is the program I use primarily for imaging and so I personally like a desktop shortcut. I'll reupload tomorrow. For now, sleep...

Galapo.

Please do, and thanks: makes my job a little easier as I'm a little over testing at the moment.

By the way, I've removed SmartFTP as of now. If someone wants it, it's available in the download section of the forums.

Galapo.

Galapo:

thank you, i am not a pro about these stuff, just a learning smart user, i believe the best thing i can do to help is to test and try to find solutions

thanks for removal of smartftp ;)

after making many many tests, i am full now, overdoze tests make brain milky :whistling:.

everthing works nice so far, i rewrite 1st post instead of writing here,
shortly these are on 1st post:

-shellnew of unneccesary extensions
-search options ready to use
-suggestion of messenger
-suggestion of ie6
-info about a warning

only one question:
please help me to write right syntax to add reg key for .wav shellnew (in fact others too but as all same .wav enough),
so i write a reg, and delete that reg, so no warning of delete empty reg happens.
i tried many ways, i dont know where i do wrong ;).

i have some ideas of some scripts in mind, makin overdoze general tests remains a milky brain, i have to cool my brain for a while ;)

cu later ;)

-shellnew of unneccesary extensions

Added to new version of 'Other tweaks'

-search options ready to use

Added to new version of 'Explorer shell - Tweaks and Settings'

-suggestion of messenger
-suggestion of ie6

Personally, I don't have an interest in implementing scripts for these. However, if someone else writes them, I'm more than willing to add them to the project.

only one question:
please help me to write right syntax to add reg key for .wav shellnew (in fact others too but as all same .wav enough),

i tried many ways, i dont know where i do wrong :whistling:.

Have a look in the 'Other tweaks' script for the way I decided to do it so that if the key doesn't exist, there still isn't a warning generated in the log (I hate unnecessary warnings, too).

Regards,
Galapo.

Galapo:

i just click here the time you click "add reply" ;), what a luck.

i will check those you wrote

but first sth i found:

Under enviromental variables
Temp and Tmp
are both in user variables for system and system variables, as they should be
But
Temp and Tmp that are in "user variables for system" have no effect,

to check it, write (under livexp)
Echo %temp%
and see the result. (also Echo %tmp% )

That thing cause this problem:
I was just tryin some utilites that extract themselves to %temp% (or %tmp%), and i was planing to put a "Empty Temp Files" shortcut, but i see that all files extracted to B:\ , so all B:\ was in mess :whistling:.

If real temp folder was really "%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Temp" there wont be a problem,
also you may consider to use "%ramdrv%\Windows\Temp" too, it is your decision.

Yes, I've noticed that before too. I suspect it is to do with the PE environment, where "user" is "system".

Doing something like this
Hive_Load,HKLM

reg_add,0x2,"%reg%\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Environment","TEMP","#$pUSERPROFILE#$p\Local Settings\Temp"

reg_add,0x2,"%reg%\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Environment","TMP","#$pUSERPROFILE#$p\Local Settings\Temp"

Hive_Unload,HKLM
results in a shell that doesn't load properly.

(Temporary?) suggestion: extract to %temp%\temp.

Regards,
Galapo.

In BuildModel script change
[Define-RAM]

	   RegWrite,HKLM,0x2,"WB-Setup\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Environment","Temp","%RAMDriveLetter%"

	   RegWrite,HKLM,0x2,"WB-Setup\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Environment","Tmp","%RAMDriveLetter%"
to
[[Define-RAM]

If,Not,ExistDir,"%TargetDir%\$ModelRAM\%docs%",DirMake,"%TargetDir%\$ModelRAM\%docs%"

If,Not,ExistDir,"%TargetDir%\$ModelRAM\%docs%\%user%",DirMake,"%TargetDir%\$ModelRAM\%docs%\%user%"

Peter:
it turned 4 errors in log file:
DirMake - Failed to create directory: [%BaseDir%\Temp\livexp%BaseDir%\Target\LiveXP\$ModelRAM\Documents and Settings]

so i used this
[Define-Temp]
RegWrite,HKLM,0x2,"WB-Setup\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Environment","Temp","%RAMDriveLetter%\%docs%\%user%\%settings%\Temp"
RegWrite,HKLM,0x2,"WB-Setup\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Environment","Tmp","%RAMDriveLetter%\%docs%\%user%\%settings%\Temp"

and echo %temp% fixed

BUT

it cause another thing, as cmd.exe of pe act different in a command like:
start %temp%\test.exe

with the fix you gave, this command turns to
start B:\Document and Settings\User Profiles\Local Settings\test.exe
and dont work
in real windows cmd.exe act to put ~ characters with 8 cha. rule as you know (sorry for newbie terminology).

which way should i we go peter?
creating a B:\Temp folder and set temp, and tmp to B:\Temp seems nice to me?? (maybe temporarly)
or fixing how cmd.exe act?

There was a typo in the first code and i fixed it, propably after you copied.

Sorry!

Now the code is correct.

#0: %Temp% different from Ram drive root NEEDS BootSDI. The 'normal' PE has a timing issue wich ends with a failure when installing browseui.dll Here %Temp% points to a directory which is not yet existant at that time.

an experienced Command user dont use quotes in this line,
start "%temp%\test.exe"

here is a nice test for you,
download process explorer (procexp.exe), rename it to test.exe, put it in your temp directory (sth like C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Temp)
open a cmd window
write "%temp%\test.exe", see what will happen ;)

previous post answer is on the way ;)

Peter

here is a test for you (to be sure)

at attachment there is Desktop.rar, inside there are test.exe and test1_2.cmd
put test.exe and test1_2.cmd to your desktop and doubleclick test1_2.cmd

you should see a screen, press ok,
than another screen or not??

ps:
test.exe is autoit2 script, only one line in it:
MsgBox, 0, AutoIt, When You see this windows press OK

if you dont want to use this test.exe, copy process explorer's exe to your desktop, rename it to test.exe
than doubleclick test1_2.cmd

you should see process explorer's windows, close that window
than you should see process explorer's window or not??

(i will make my friends to do that test too after your answer)

The start command has a special syntax:

The first quoted parameter defines the window's title.

Therefore here works:
Start "" "%Temp%\test.exe"

Peter

in the end,
the applications that have command like:
start %temp%\test.exe
dont work on livexp but works on normally with xp, lots of .cmd or/and .bat to fix if livexp use B:\Document........ :whistling:

or

if you agree, temp directory can be on B:\Temp
i have an idea
maybe putting this .cmd file to startup
(.cmd file to \i386 and shortcut to startup)

md %ramdrv%\Temp
reg.exe add "HKCU\Environment" /v Temp /t REG_SZ /d "%ramdrv%\Temp" /f
reg.exe add "HKCU\Environment" /v Tmp /t REG_SZ /d "%ramdrv%\Temp" /f
reg.exe add "HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Environment" /v Temp /t REG_SZ /d "%ramdrv%\Temp" /f
reg.exe add "HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Environment" /v Tmp /t REG_SZ /d "%ramdrv%\Temp" /f

may satisfy all needs,
i am still looking for an "environmental variable refresher", as this cmd dont work without refreshing env var.
for now, after this cmd, i go to enviromental variable windows, and press OK.
can you give me a clue??

Answer of previous post of peter:

yep i learned it, maybe using startup can overcome this issue as startup occurs in later steps in opening procedure (i guess)

Peter: #1: To have it documented: can you please post a screen shoot?

with codebox (problem with ie7 (and as expected maxthon))
http://img354.images...effect1asg7.png

without codebox (no problem)

with code (no problem)

now can you please change codebox to code, so i wont use my browser window like google earth ;)

Peter: #2: If I do not want to use xxx.inf, I wouln't place it into the project, not even cor converting

there is a misunderestanding, i just asked you the idea or not, you answer from a very diff. point of view, i wont disturb with this idea anymore.

The 'Temp' issue in my opinion can be solved by:
  • Letting 'Temp' and 'Tmp' defined in the root of the RAM drive
  • Adding an additional 'myTemp' to whereever you want, e.g.
    [Define-RAM] RegWrite,HKLM,0x2,"WB-Setup\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Environment","Temp","%RAMDriveLetter%" RegWrite,HKLM,0x2,"WB-Setup\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Environment","Tmp","%RAMDriveLetter%" If,Not,ExistDir,"%TargetDir%\$ModelRAM\%docs%",DirMake,"%TargetDir%\$ModelRAM\%docs%" If,Not,ExistDir,"%TargetDir%\$ModelRAM\%docs%\%user%",DirMake,"%TargetDir%\$ModelRAM\%docs%\%user%" If,Not,ExistDir,"%TargetDir%\$ModelRAM\%docs%\%user%\%settings%",DirMake,"%TargetDir%\$ModelRAM\%docs%\%user%\%settings%" If,Not,ExistDir,"%TargetDir%\$ModelRAM\%docs%\%user%\%settings%\Temp",DirMake,"%TargetDir%\$ModelRAM\%docs%\%user%\%settings%\Temp" RegWrite,HKLM,0x2,"WB-Setup\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Environment","myTemp","%RAMDriveLetter%\%docs%\%user%\%settings%\Temp"
In the PE you may start your app from %myTemp%BTW: 'Start' is a functionality of the shell and may vary on several PEs depending on the explorer's settings. Why do you not simply use cmd /k "%myTemp%\test.exe"

I tried and have had success.

Codebox: That is funny: The troubles you have with CodeBox, I have without CodeBox. Also a question of 'Themes' ?

It seems to be a question of the forum's software.

I have the same result like you with IE7, but with FireFox for me it is ok.

Peter:

it is not a "ie7 bootland codebox/code issue", it is "ie7 bootland single line wrapness" issue :whistling:
one can reproduce same problem by using ie7 without codebox or code with a looong line. (i can :>)
but with codebox, issue happens in very early stage,
in other words, with ie7 you can reproduce the issue with a shorter line by using codebox than code or nothing.

i hope you change codebox at least in this subject (post46, post35)
using nothing (no codebox or code) suits me good too as i guess it suits you too.

about cmd issue,
i can fix them (existing cmd's) by your advices but there will be a risk when a utility use similar syntax with cmd in livexp, my reports about cmd only to help to make livexp more compatible with the commands already used by utilities, sorry i dont have capability to do further than report.

i will try the last codes you gave, but i have another issue for a while, '"Error: installation failed" at startup of livexp', first i will find why it occurs than do last trials with codes you gave, but first resting for a while.

any idea for "environmental variable refresher" ? i had unsuccessful trials with setenv.exe setx.exe pcset.exe , i can set environmental variable, but i cant activate ;)
