hi everyone,
It is good to be back - I was around on diddy.bootland some years ago just about when grub4dos 0.4.4 was released. Seems a long time ago now, and since then I have forgotten something I once knew.
I am preparing a usb stick for booting. I copied grldr into /grub , created menu.lst there too.
I used bootlace.com to write the mbr, and I am working from Linux.
Every thing works, but one thing is not perfect. I get a prompt immediately on booting giving me the choice to boot from the old MBR. I do not want this choice. I do not want to wait 5sec or to press a key.
So, how do I suppress this on the existing usb that displays this behaviour?
And more importantly, please, what form of the bootlace.com command should I have used in the first place? I have tried
bootlace.com /dev/sdX bootlace.com --no-backup-mbr /dev/sdX
and I have tried the bootlace from versions 0.4.4 and from 0.4.5c
I even tried to zero the first megabyte with dd so there was no mbr - but it *still* gives me the option to boot from it.
What am I doing wrong, please? I just *know* it will be something obvious but I can't see it...
River~~
