When I plug in my isoStick, it simply shows as a microSD card. I've reinstalled the firmware, tried different SD cards, tried different isos. No clue why this is happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the cdrom not showing in the BIOS, or in an OS? (or both?)

What OS are you using?

Does the CDROM show but is empty, or does it not show at all?

Please post the contents of your iso_filename.txt file.

Some things to check quickly as well:

  • If your cards are 64GB or larger, make sure they are formatted FAT32.
  • Check your isostick for filesystem errors, then safely eject it, unplug it, flip the switch to read-only mode, and plug it back in. See if the CDROM works then. If so, it may have just been filesystem errors or a "dirty" filesystem -- be sure to safely eject it every time.
  • Make sure the iso_filename.txt file is plain ASCII or ANSI, not UTF-8 or Unicode.
For example, on Windows, open it in Notepad and do File -> Save As, and check that Encoding: is set to ANSI.

It's not showing in OS (Win 8.1), and it doesn't show at all. My ios_filename.txt file simply contains the name of the one iso I have on the sd card, "Win8".

No filesystem errors were found and my file is in ANSI. My sd card is only 32GB.

Make sure the iso_filename.txt contains the full name of the ISO including the extension, so for example "Win8.iso"

Also, for this to work, be sure the ISO is on the root of the microSD card, otherwise please be sure to include the relative path. For example, if the iso is in a folder called "isos", then you should use "isos/Win8.iso".

OMG. It was the filename. Can't believe it was something so simple. I haven't used my isostick in months because of this issue. Thanks!

No problem! By the way, if you don't want to mess with the iso_filename.txt yourself you can always use ISO Manager :)
