If that works, I admire you as voodoo magician!

How is the service created?

Running the instexnt command as per mentioned, referenced and even quoted and highlighted MS KB. :frusty:

Heck it is a SINGLE command line in a command prompt window.

WHAT is the issue? :w00t:

If you prefer, you can:

  1. create a senseless directory %ProgramFiles%\Windows Resource Kits\Tools
  2. Download the RKtools.exe.
  3. Open it in 7-zip
  4. Open the RKtool.msi in 7-zip
  5. Copy the three mentioned files to %ProgramFiles%\Windows Resource Kits\Tools
  6. Run the batches "as they are"

There is NO *need* to install the Resource Kit tools, the batches you posted are fine :), it is the (previous) install that can be avoided.

@all:

Worked like a charm; and now I've actually added a valuable feature to the box ;)

FWIW, I used

instexnt install /interactive

after dumping the toys out on sys32.

And, for the record, the batch came out looking like this:

@ECHO OFF
START "" "\Program Files\System Safety Monitor\SysSafe.exe"
EXIT

Easy as pi --

Thanks again; and have a great weekend . . .
