Sometimes I don't even get the Vista style menu, just the classic menu. Should I be unselecting another plugin?

You must disable the "Explorer Policies by Xplod" and the "explorer Vista"
This overwriting my settings in "Explorer Tweaks"

For Vista-Startmenu the importantly following key is not in the Registry:

"HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer"
"NoSimpleStartMenu" = "1"

You can control it in running Vistape.

2aCD...

I am still getting a Warning when building, it was commented on a while ago, and the suggested cure was...

IF,notExistFile,%AutoRunFile%,FileCreateBlank,%AutoRunFile%
with
If,notExistFile,"%AutoRunFile%",FileCreateBlank,"%AutoRunFile%"
Is then the error away?

The missing quote marks in the above line already appear to be there in the ExplorerTweaks.script.

I am using ...
WinBuilder 072a
VistaPE 10
InternetExplorer.script 8
ExplorerTweaks.script 8

Do I need to use the 073-beta1 of WinBuilder?

You really do not need WB-073-B1 to solve this issue.

Your troubles are related to something in the scripts.

BTW: As known to 'old' members, I'm not a friend of Vista. Therefore I do not have any WB Vista project stored on my PC. But inspite of that, maybe I can help you, if you post your log.

Ifr you are unsure about the previous sentence, just as a sample, have a look here.

Thanks Peter, I have tried updating to 073-beta1 and re-testing, with exactly the same result.

In the mean time, I have an idea what's going wrong in your installation. The bad boy seems to be 'ExlorerTweeks'. Give me some time!

But in between, you surely can go back to WB 72 and should do so

WB 73 has some issues which are not yet reported. None of the issues matches your current system, but if you change something, ... ???

Hi SaRCy,

Thanks for posting your Log. It appears that you may have VistaPE version 008. From your Log:
"File [ºseDir%\Projects\VistaPE\Build\Standard-0-preconfig.script] Version [8]"

I can't recall - but I wonder whether or not "%AutorunFile%" is defined in v.008. If not, I would think that the "TXTAddLine" line should also generate an error. Perhaps not! Have a quick search around the winbuilder folder for a strange file called "%AutorunFile%".

If it turns out that you do not have v.010, you could zip your current VistaPE folder for posterity, and download the latest.

I agree with psc, that you should go back to WB 072. If you did notice strange happenings with 073, could you post them somewhere? ... My extremely brief encounter was so weird that I really couldn't say what had happened. I thought it was something I had done! ... but, that is all for another thread.

Hi VistaPE-Friends,

I'm ready with version 010 of my Explorer-script for VistaPE 010
See at first post.

Hi 2aCD,

Running VistaPE from a CD, when I open IE, a hidden folder is instantly created on the hard-drive.

C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\[UserName]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Feeds Cache\...
...J07EX7IX\desktop.ini
...OVH9XY6W\desktop.ini
...OZ8XT5Z2\desktop.ini
...ZNLH2XVZ\desktop.ini
...desktop.ini
...index.dat

Looks Chinese/Arabic/Hierogliphic/Nubian to me. ... ... Is it necessary?

Thanks for the great effort!

Hi allanf,

no it is not necessary, this is a bug.
When I produced the Registry-entrys, inadvertently the variable %USERPROFILE% was translated. Thus my profilefolder is in the Registry.
I uploadet a corrected script.

Thanks for reply.

Hi 2aCD,

Thanks for the rapid reply and corrections.

I haven't tested the patch, but I have had a look at the amendments you made (using windiff on the extracted .reg files). Now, those changes are really "all Hex to me"!

Just to confirm some points...

Thus my profilefolder is in the Registry.

Which Registry? ... the user's "Host" Machine, or only in VistaPE?

Can I simply delete the wayward "Dokumente und Einstellungen" folder, or is there a possibility of more things accidentally written to my "Host" Machine?

... sorry if questions are dumb!

BTW. I have removed your UserProfile name from my previous post... in case you like to keep that private. Sorry. I didn't realise that it was a name. You should also change it in your quote of my post... if you like.

Thanks again. I'm very happy to test your scripts.

I uploadet a corrected script.

I experience the same errors with new as with old version:

1. Two shortcuts without icons:

Explorer_32.JPG

When clicked answer is:

Explorer_35.JPG

2. Shutdown and Restart shortcuts are on wrong place:

Explorer_33.JPG

Hi phox,

can you post the property-window from the shortcuts 'shutdown' and 'reboot' in the favorites from startmenu.

I can not place the shortcuts at the original windows-position. The Microsoft-shotdown and -reboot do not work in VistaPE.

Hi phox,
can you run the follow test:

Start your CD with BS-Explorer-Shell.
Then start this registry-file, switch to Explorer-Shell and look in startmenu

Is this not a solution then I have another test:

Start the CD with BS-Explorer-Shell
Copy the new shortcuts in running CD to:

"x:\windows\System32\Config\Systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu"

Doubleclick the Favorites_new.reg
Swith to Explorer-Shell and look startmenu.

Can you reply the result

Both shortcuts have been there. When I click directly on them, they work!

Hm  Slowly me also the ideas go out.

Now a last test:

- tart the CD with Explorer-Shell and remove the shortcuts (reboot and shutdown) from the favorites (right mouse)
- go with explorer to "x:\windows\System32\Config\Systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu"
- right mouse of reboot and add to startmenu-favorites (also with shutdown)
- then look in Startmenü, shortcuts are available??
- are there available, then press original-windows logoff in startmenu
- open regedit and export the registry: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StartPage" to drive c
- now remove the shortcuts again from startmenu and press logoff.
- switch to BS-Explorer and then again to Explorer, shortcuts must have disappeared.
- ok, now switch again to bs-explorer and import the exported registry
- switch again to explorer and look, shortcuts are available??
- yes?? then send me or post the exported registry. then can I test it for me.

I solved the problem by deselecting "enable Vista Start Menu"
in ExplorerTweaks.script!

Thank you.

Hi hectorma,
I can't see what you mean.
Have you install my Explorer/IE7/DotNet-Script and Explorer-Tweaks?
Have you disabled the original Explorer-Script and Explorer-Policies?
Have you Vista-DVD as Source.
Have you place Explorer/IE7/DotNet in Folder Shell
Have You place Explorer-Tweaks in Folder Tweaks
