Sometimes, it does seem like that cartoon.

Im testing and going to upgrade the Windows 7 and 8 machines to Windows 10. So I need to be able to control when you can update things.

If people are using software (ex..Toolwiz Time Freeze) that enables a System Restore. It doesnt make sense to let the OS or apps auto update.

------------------------

Tested the upgrade on 2 towers. They had windows 7 pro. Upgrade went well and smooth. Did the updgrade by letting WIndows 7 downloa all available updates and then using the Upgrade icon to download and Upgrade to Windows 10.

Tested the Settings - Update & Security - Recovery - Reset this PC. It did a Reinstall of WIndows and so far it worked. I could have chosen to keep files but the machines didnt have anythign to keep.

Very, impressed with the overall experience. Unlike when I tested windows 8 Install. Windows 8 had me sweating trying to figure things out at first. Nice job to MS.

Today I tried the same thing on the Dell venue 8 pro. It had Windows 8.1 on it. Downloaded/installed all the updates before starting the upgrade. Selected the upgrade icon and downloaded and upgraded to WIndows 10, If its a Dell Venue 8 Pro that has 32gb of space. Windows will not be able to upgrade. It will ask for an external device that has 10GB of free space. So when it asked for that. I used a 16GB USB stick using a  USB OTG cable. The Tablet had full charge at the time of starting to upgrade. I could have used a MicroSDcard, but didnt have one on the tablet during test upgrade.
