Hi

been testing the last version on Winbuilder 2015...

When I use the command "download list" I only obtain 2 projects

    1. win7_en_x86

    2. win8_en_x86_sp1

?whats up with 64 bits projects

?when projects upgraded from old winbuilder 0.8x will be available

Also when using "install list" only got ~20 plug-ins

?whay so few... ?when can we get more

also want to 2 alias:

    Projects = download

    Plugins  = install

Thx, ZEE

My answers in bold inside the quote

Hi

been testing the last version on Winbuilder 2015...

When I use the command "download list" I only obtain 2 projects

    1. win7_en_x86

    2. win8_en_x86_sp1

These are source CDs, not projects. THis is a little favour to the user, because M$ hides the URLs where to download source CDs.

?whats up with 64 bits projects

Like WinBuilder 0.8x was, is WinBuilder 20xx a tool to create some usable application, usually a PE.

The authors of WinBuilder just deliver an example project, formerly "Standard" (XP x86), now Win7PE (x86).

Other projects can be offerred by other authors.

?when projects upgraded from old winbuilder 0.8x will be available

As soon as a user wrotes a converting tool.

Also when using "install list" only got ~20 plug-ins

?whay so few... ?when can we get more

These plugins are examples or favorites of the author.

Every developer can write and deliver new plugins. See http://reboot.pro/to...te-own-plugins/

also want to 2 alias:

    Projects = download

    Plugins  = install

I do not understand. please explain.

Thx, ZEE

Peter :cheers:

Translated, we have now a very fast engine, but no or scarce suitable fuel for it. :(

There was BTW no credible attempt to re-create a developer base, nor - since the actual "old version" of Winbuilder actually still seemingly works fine on updated projects - any migration back of old time developers.

Sometimes when something is irreparably compromised, it simply cannot be repaired or recreated, it is sad, it is a pity, but it is simply not possible anymore :cold: .

Maybe in a few years time there will be the possibility of a "new deal" :) but it seems like the time has not come yet :dubbio: .

I think the way to console is a must for more avanced users... :cold:

The simplification of interface also is a welcome... :book:

Sometimes... some effort must be applied to move ahead... :coffee:

I think this is the case... :play_ball:

When this version gains momentum... everybody will jump to the wagon--- :good:

There are some mysteries in the forum's software due to user status (Member, developer, etc.) and number of posts. :cheers:

You either will never be allowed to edit (not even your own post) in this subforum, or you did not yet reach the magical number of posts (I do not know the number).

Whether we will introduce aliases and if yes, which ones, is up to Nuno.

My personal opinion: He wants simplicity, and aliases make things more complex. >> No

Is this the right place to describe the problems I have getting WinBuilder2015 CDs to boot on (say) 50+% of the machines I try it on?  (I also see same problem with EzPE3, although not quite so bad.)  If not, where should I?

Yes, it is. Please describe what happens durung boot. What's the failure?

What is common inside the "non booting" machine, and different from the "booting" machines?

Change of account, but it's still me.  (I couldn't see any way of renaming my account.)

The problem which ALWAYS occurs for me with WinBuilder2015 is that "easyDriveLetter" window appears, saying "The number of drives with the multiPEBoot signature is 0".  It then lists various partitions, sometimes including the one it should use (which is "X: Boot").  Unfortunately the keyboard never works, so I'm unable to get any further than that.

I've also seen this issue with EzPE3, but (seemingly) it's not so common, and (I noticed recently) if I wait long enough then the keyboard *eventually* starts working (at least sometimes) so that I'm able to enter a drive letter & get it to boot.  (I suspect that USB hubs make things worse, but sometimes they are built-in to the keyboard/mouse combo, or even the computer itself.)

I've never had any "easyDriveLetter" problems with other bootable CDs, so my personal feeling is that "easyDriveLetter" should probably just be scrapped in favour of whatever other PE disks use.  Or at least if "easyDriveLetter" fails, then it should fall-back on whatever mechanism other PE disks use.

Unfortunately I don't have a record of which PCs had problems, and I cannot check them again (one-off visits).  However, my own PC does have this problem, so easy to test.
