The multiboot project is a means for building a custom PW off of many different sources (selected by the user), so yes, in that way, it is like a utility kit. Microsofts PE is pretty simplistic and "bare"...

Same concept, idea, different flavor. WinPE is the Microsoft generated version. MultiPE, WIN7PE_SE and others are the non Microsoft versions and these are generated by WinBuilder.

PE stands for pre-installed environment.

WinBuilder is the tool that generates various non-official PEs such as MultiPE, Win7PE_SE etc and these are all Windows preinstalled environments. They basically do the same thing (including WinPE). They just include different settings/programs so what may work in one PE may not work in another.

So you have WinPE (Windows Preinstalled Environment) and then you have Win7PE_SE, MultiPE and others generated by WinBuilder. I have never used the official WinPE as the WinBuilder generated ones serve me pretty good. For more information on WinPE visit http://apcmag.com/wi...maintenance.htm
