I have already, some time ago, sorted through the different file undelete scripts, we have and removed all, which eighter did not work at all or really poorly.
Unfortunately i didn't do the same with the partition recovery scripts, or at least not good enough.

- Find and Mount works fine, but does not allow to restore the lost partition in place
- Finalrecovery partition recovery does not restore a partiton in the trial version
- Smart Partition Recovery - dito

So we're in dire need of a freeware partition recovery software to include or at least some fully functional trailware.

Any suggestions?

If you actually want a tool that is recommended as working, use TESTDISK (and PHOTOREC).
If you really want a GUI, write a wrap around GUI, they are scriptable:

More loosely, this kind of tools should not be put in the hands of kids.

Restoring/recovering DATA/PARTITIONS "in place" is exactly what should NEVER be done.

Yes i know these two and shortly considered them. But walking someone over the phone, through the use of those tools? Not something i wanna try to do with someone, who can't understand what he sees, even if it were in german

did u have go on diskgenious and Partition find and mount ?

I have personally tested the 1st one to recover partitions , the second one was used by a friend yesterday to successfully recover partitions . both are freeware. and very little tools .

I didn't knew Disk Genius is also a recovery tool. Will have a look.
'Find and mount' can only mount a lost partition, so that one can copy files of it. Which is nice, but if there is no place to copy the files to, that's not helpful. A solution was needed which could restore a partition in place.

I see that you haven't the faintest idea on the basics of Data Recovery.

Attempting recovery off the original media means - in plain English - forfaiting roughly 20 to 30% of probabilities of success.

Data recovery should ALWAYS be performed on COPIES (clones or forensic quality images) of the original media, and NEVER on original media (that is if you actually care about the data), EXPECIALLY by unexperienced users.

How much is a 500 Gb USB drive nowadays?

60 €/80 $?

How much is worth one's Data?

Hundreds or thousands of Euros, if it can be given a price at all?

BTW, you also make another conceptual error, you assume that the person on the other side won't lie.

Wonko, havn't you noticed yet, that stuff like this happens only to people, who have no backups, no second HDD, no second computer, at times when all shops are closed and some deadline hanging over them, that makes, waiting for the shops to open, impossible?

Besides, nobody, who can't put the tab on somebody else, values their data, to be worth a thousand Euros or more.

i have it running on my Win7Rescue PE.

it has GUI and partition recovery wizard. i never use the partition recovery wizard but i often used itu to partitioning HDD.
may be you can take a look at give it a try.
