Hi,

I would like to know if there is any free PXE servers that I can use to boot my PC?

If there isn't any, can I use Ubuntu ISO image that is hosted on Ubuntu Website to boot my PC just by getting the information about the Ubuntu server (DHCP, IP, etc)?

Hi Xtremee,

I dare to say : have you been trying Tiny PXE Server?

Erwan

Hi Erwan,

As far as I know, Tiny PXE Server is a server that be copied to your USB Stick and then can be used to boot through PXE. This is a quite different from my scope. But anyway, I can reform the question to be: can I use PXE Server or my settings in my Preboot system to boot using ANY image on the internet?

i.e. I would like to boot my computer using the Ubuntu version hosted on Canonical servers without the need to download it. OR, boot using whatever OS image on the internet.

Is that possible?

Hi Xtremee,

Boot over the internet is quiet possible : the only constraint is the bandwidth and therefore the time it will take.

IPXE bootstrap allows pxe booting over http.

Regards,
Erwan
