Hi ppl, long time no see... sorry!

I wonder if anybody knows of a good utility to make a driver backup from a offline disk

windows XP/2003 or later and then a driver injection in a offline disk with...

The purpose is to backup all drivers of a offline disk (call it computer-A)

and then inject them on a new offline disk already with XP/2003

to put in computer-A and boot flawless

I already done it by manually this way:

    . grab all driver files in %windir%\system32, %windir%\system32\inf, %windir%\system32\drivers

and put them in the new offline disk

. retrieve registry HKLM->ControlSetXXX, then inject in the destination registry hive offline

and works ok, if you do not «MISS» a file... which is easy to do...

I try 2 utilities to solve this manual work : DoubleDriver and DriverBackup

And everything works ok... until the restore in the new offline disk!

the problem is that this utils do not have a process to restore drivers to a offline disk...

?any ideas

I dude... thanks for your answer... :good:

    I say
DriverGrabber is an excelent little tool :victory:
I just execute it and does the job required,
portable and easy, no interface just create the folder with the drivers
A really useful addition would be to save the drivers in the respective
folders they exist in windows (so you can just copy them to %windir%) and
create a *.reg file with drivers definition so you could import to a
    offline registry
    -----
But what I want is a tool that offline inject a choosen driver in a :swimmer:
    offline windows disk :hyper:

?Any wisdom someone can share about this :frusty:

No, not something that I recall working for *all* drivers, though there are a couple of specific tools for Mass-Storage (and a generic approach to Offline Sysprepping - which I believe is what you are asking for) here:

The tool mentioned in that thread "DriverInjection" is great...

The ideal would be update this tool to inject a set of drivers, located in a folder (created by DriverGrabber or DriverBackup), and inject this drivers in a offline disk or image... :hammer:

This will avoid SysPrep'ing... :cold:

Too much problems I had SysPrep'ing... time to start avoid them...  :dubbio:

Well, Offline Sysprep has worked allright for thousands of people, so maybe something else is the issue in your case.

Of course everything is possible, and a man can dream :), but I doubt that you are considering the complexity of a "generic" tool like the one you just depicted.

The issue is always the same...

As we know there are lots and lots os specific configurations done in system and users profiles that do not cope with a SysPrep'ing...

...

I think i still be doing it manually for the time...

Thx for your help---
