Hi,

Some feedback on this new iteration of WinBuilder.

Build time is very fast, 2 minutes 6 seconds.

Created ISO seems to be very fast in booting (in a VM anyway).

However, as this project is about using new technologies, the ASCII art needs to go, the command-line needs to go, especially if you want this application to be widely used by new users.

That being said, it is a very encouraging start .

Regards,

What I mean is that if a plugin is configurable but not installed and I select it using the configuration GUI, should it not automatically be downloaded and installed? I think it will make life easier for new users to be consistent.

You are right. I also thought about coding this (main.bsh:install() in the plugin is scheduled to do so). But also the developers' day has only 24 hours ...

Peter

15:59:19 [COMMAND] install PiriformClamWinPortable

15:59:19 [RUNNING] Downloading and installing "PiriformClamWinPortable", please wait..
15:59:19 [INFO] D:\WinBuilder\WinBuilder\downloads\310-PiriformClamWinPortable.zip is not a valid Zip file

OOPS!

I'm going to check this.

Peter

EDIT:

All other plugins can be installed correctly. ClamWimPortable is corrupt. Tomorrow I'm going to reassemble and reupload.

the ASCII art needs to go,

ArtAscii is a favour of Nuno, and in the mean time I like it, too.

It can be switched off via CONFIG

New version is uploaded.

What's New in Version 2013.12.21

  • Moved network support from "Files" to "Components"
  • Added some workarounds for WinBuilder 2013.09.01 registry handling bugs. This allows audio support and NVDA plugin using WinBuilder 2013.09.01
  • Added AudioSupport
  • Added "Dependency" processing

The new project version can work with WinBuilder 2013.09.01 and WinBuilder 201?.??.?? (not yet published).

Differences are handled by checking a variable "hasOldWb".

Now also with the buggy WinBuilder 2013.09.01 handling of some registry functions, adding audio support and NVDA to the project is possible.

It is still not yet possible to use Win7 SP0 or Win8 source CDs. For this the new WinBuilder version is really needed.

When you download the new Win7PE version, please, delete all existing Win7PE contents before. Some existing files may dirsturb the correct working of the Win7PE project.

The downloaded project includes activation of NVDA for the PE.

Inspite most of all users do not need NVDA, it is included, because with the current WinBuilder, a visually impaired person cannot add NVDA to the project: The CONFIG page is not yet "seen" by  NVDA.

So the ask for favour to all users with normal view abilities: If you do not want to use it, please remove NVDA by CONFIG (once!) from your project.

Thanks :good:

Peter

There is a new version uploaded:

What's New in Version 2014.01.02

  • Added lost MMC component
  • Removed warning messages which can irritate the unexperienced user

Win7PE will be frozen in this stage, until somebody did the conversion of bsh to java-like scripts.

Thank you. Wish that I could finish the conversion, we could really use some other kind soul to help on this task.
