Hi

Im trying to install USB-to-serial driver. Two ways. Thru DIPE it find it, report that Appropriate driver found, Hit Import Driver and then: Installation of drivers failed... Nothing more...

In Hardware Update Wizard I give  right folder, basically everything goes well at start and then comes error: The required section not found in the inf.

What more should be in that IF file? Or how I can debug this error?

Thnx

This kind of error is likely to happen under the following three conditions.

  • You are trying to reinstall the driver without rebooting the PC after having uninstalled it.
Unplug the device from the USB port and reboot your PC. After that, replug it and reinstall the driver.

  • You are trying to install the wrong driver for your PC’s Windows.
Confirm that you have selected the correct driver's location in the new hardware wizard.

  • You are trying to reinstall the driver for your PC’s Windows without removing the wrong driver installed.
Uninstall the wrong driver and then reinstall the correct driver.

seriously, what adds automatically port number to this? Right now I have to go Port Properties, Port settings and change com port number manually...

OK, after try and error trial I have got almost working solution but Im still stuck in getting driver getting loaded at start. Im assuming that there isnt correct entry in txtsetup.sif, but here Im lost again. I cant get answer what is meaning the values in [  ]. What is the connection between [xxx] and [xxx.LOAD] for example. Basically I want to get Prolific 2303 driver loaded at startup so there is no need to go thru driver installing procedure when I connect that usb2serial adapter
