Hi, I've been reading and learning a lot from the forums. I'm currently working on creating a closed network to deploy cd images and winpe. I've been able to pxe boot other iso's but when I try to load kaspersky rescue cd by pxe booting, it always stops at looking for the cd and then ultimately fails.

The same thing can be said when I tried to load pxe first, then from my default file I called grub4dos loader, then tried to load the kaspersky cd, but i always come to the same point as i did when i went straight from the pxelinux menu. Any help would be appreciated, or if it can't be done, then that would be fine too, i'd just like a pointer in the general direction. I'm not too experienced with grub4dos or pxelinux, I've self-educated myself by trial and error and reading a lot off of these forums, which i am also grateful for. I can post more info as to what my config files looked like but most of that is in my notebook at my friends house, so i'll be able to post that when i get there tomorrow.

afaik, you have to do a lot of work to make it working.
Remember that Kaspersky Rescue Disk is a Linux based boot disk (Gentoo) and its hardware support is less than perfect.... a PEBuilder/LiveXP boot disk with a good KAV plugin is by far more powerful.

I tried to make it work, without success...

Gentoo gives option to boot from network. But Kaspersky Rescue CD starts the network very lately in the boot process. It prevents booting from a NFS share as there's no ethernet interface accessible with the content of the initrd package...

If you need to use some AV with a pxe bootable environment, I can only suggest you to try the excellent Trinity Rescue Kit Linux distribution. It's light, can boot up from a pxe server with a nfs share for the rootfs, and is able to launch a virus-scan with differents AV :
Clam AV
F-Prot
BitDefender
Verixa
Avast

Greetz,

thank you all for your input and feedback. I've been racking my head over this for the past 2 weeks. I will instead try the linux av tools you've suggested rather than beating this dead horse with a stick.

I have to say that there is a option for booting Kaspersky Rescue Disk but it needs some NFS share.

I am preparing now a Linux PXE server with NFS share and will try to boot Kaspersky.

For info, please take a look to http://www.clearfoun...,view/id,52645/

Clearfoundation is linux router but for Linux admin, it isnt big deal to make own Linux PXE server.
