Do it is possible to translate this grub without APPEND --config-file:

title dsl
root (hd0,1)
kernel /linux24
to SysLinux

?
I tryed:

LABEL dsl
KERNEL chain.c32 hd0 1 ntldr=/linux24

but not work

Where did you get the line you tried?

Do you believe that "/linux24" is a MS NT loader or a Linux kernel?
Or is it a file?

Last time I checked chain.32, being a .32 COM module was loaded through COM32:
http://www.syslinux....mboot/chain.c32


Will it work to properly load the chain.c32 module with a COM32 command and passing the kernel as "file" parameter?
Cannot say, I doubt that syslinux can load a kernel residing on another partition.

WHAT is the reason for using Syslinux (for doing what GRUB, grub4dos, GRUB2 and any of their derivatives would do perfectly)?

Current Syslinux can only use files from the same filesystem as Syslinux was booted from. Some day there will be multiple disk and filesystem support, but not today. Since you are talking about a single file here (a Linux kernel), why not simply copy it to wherever you have Syslinux installed to?

Filesystems involved (FAT32 and/or NTFS) have NOTHING to do with this.

Syslinux CANNOT do what you wanted to do and in any case you "invented" your own syntax .
