Extractor from file, I think. For Example, utility HDDScan. Its icon inside file. Extractor allows you to take this icon as .ICO file. The file should be used as a logo for a shortcut creatrion.

It is great ! So we use third icon extractor only for customizing (using another icon). Is it right ?Shortcurts automaticly use the icon inside the *.exe as 'logo'.
No need to extract anything for that purpose!
And so, I thing will be for other documets. For example if I use some .RTF document and Wordpad script is installed, so icon for document shortcut will be present. Is it right ?

You only need to extract an icon, if you want to use it in your PE,e but don't want to have the *.ex, *.dll in your PE.It is great ! So we use third icon extractor only for customizing (using another icon). Is it right?
A shortcut is a link, which opens a program. For example if I use some .RTF document and Wordpad script is installed, so icon for document shortcut will be present. Is it right?
The icon that a document gets, is an association.
Though you can use the icon from inside the exe for that too, without extracting it first, an association has to be created, just like a shortcut. It doesn't happen by default or magic.
If the script does not contain the commands to create any associations, the document will not get an icon or open with the right program when double clicked.

Works, but not so obvious. I had to tinker. Select image > copy > menu Image > create new empty image > Paste > save as.IrfanView may also be useful sometimes…

Luckily it works for WordPad
