As developer of WinBuilder.exe I'm interested to know:
Did you try with the latest WB 078 SP6?

If yes, and it has not been successful, we should work on that.
That would be a GREAT project.

Hello Peter Schlang

Thanks for having me in the community boo-land

The versions 078 SP# not work, did not carry the GUI, the only one that was 075 Beta5j

But in another test I did in Windows Milleniunn with version 078_SP2 worked. (I stay away from WinME ;) )

But there is only one problem running WinBuilder within win9x platform..
When I configure scrollbox, CheckBox of my scripts, there is the following message: "Unable to write to C:\WinBuilder\Projects\WIN98LiveCD\Basic\01-win98_base.script." and nothing is changed in the script

I noticed that this happens with scripts larger than 1MB
Scripts smaller work perfectly.

This is just a small detail, because I am still working on it, I'm still rewriting the script

Ps: running on Win98 + IE6 + Unofficial SP2

Does that mean, that under W98 wb 078 SP6 does not become visible / readable at all?

only appears in the Windows hourglass for a few seconds, but nothing appears, send CTRL+ALT+DEL and nothing appears on the WinBuilder it

I can do other tests and provide you with a more detailed feedback

Do not do to much work about this now!

The item interests me and I'll do some tests.

But that will take a while ...

I have some partition space left on my HDDs, and I have Win 98, Wi ME etc. souce CDs. But to install will take a wile. I do not want to risk to overwrite my curren W 6.? boot mechanism.

I think, if I installed successful, I'l come back and then I need your help.

Question: Which W 98 do you have? (Brazil) Portuguese or English or ...

I had a recent report to the version of win98 in Chinese, which did not work

So maybe I can help you a bit.
I really want to install to my HDD (That's what a developer has to live with).
And I do not know the languages I have saved from old MSDN times (in worst case only German) ...

Let's wait and hope the best ...

@Peter

I have had success with versions: 078, 078_SP1,2,3,4,5, only 078_SP6 not work. ;)

This wonder happened after I installed the KernelEx, created by Xeno86

078 - 078 SP1,2

One problem remains big scrpts
But this is a limit of some of the win98 DLL's, which still could not figure out where the exact

Thanks for your cooperation and tests.

I really want to do the best I can (and maybe do WinBuilder changes if necessary).

But please give me some time
It is 11 Pm here, and as old retired man I need sleep
But more important: I have to search my old CD's and to install. And that may take a while.
I think that we can speak again when you tomorrow start your day.

BTW: Where are you from?
Last years I spent about 5 month (split over two years) in a project in Rio, and I got the city and the carriocas to like.

You are as good a candidate as anyone else.

I seem to remember very promising experiments with a ramdisk based build ;), if I recall correctly a "cleaned" NT4 is around 50 Mb.

If you are game for this, start a new thread here:
http://www.boot-land...hp?showforum=15
(and yes NT4 is missing in the Forum title)
and I will try and post the info I can collect.

Thanks for this nice project
Managed to build the ISO and it's working!
One simple question:
Is there ANY of all the other scripts (for XP/Vista/W7)
that will work inside the 98-project?

Also a request/suggestion:
ClamWin is working on 98 I believe.
Is it possible to add that prog in the future?

Yes, it is possible, but some modifications must be made to the new script

To add/create a new script, you need to file this new .REG files separately, because the WinBuilder NOT integrates these files to the Windows 98 Registry

The Windows 98 Registry is stored in the WINDOWS folder in two files: USER.DAT and SYSTEM.DAT, and can not load the WindowsNT Registry

You can also take a look at the script of 7-ZIP, and better understand how it works

Soon I can explain this in more detail

For vdk to run under x64, you will need to disable UAC and disable enforced driver signing.

Galapo.

Will have a look inside your 7-zip script to see and try
to understand how you make these scripts

One suggestion:
Perhaps you should put a link to the download in your first post?
Also, if you have time: A small tutorial?

Anyway: GREAT projekt!

The VDK is no longer availing the project, today I'll be uploading the new package
VDK was replaced by this: http://www.nu2.nu/bfi/

For vdk to run under x64, you will need to disable UAC and disable enforced driver signing.

Is this possible?
I have some old but very good Logitech desktop (Keyboard and Mouse) but Logitech does not provide drivers for it, for Vista or Win7.
Using just the default drivers means a lot of features aren't working anymore.

So would it be possible to use XP WHQL drivers also in Win7, with the above mentioned fixes?
And where can i turn off the enforced driver signing?
Also, would i need to keep enforced driver signing disabled also after the install or is during the install good enough?
