Hello,

I would like to use qemu to test my grub4dos installations
but having problems to start qemu with the usb stick.

My grub4dos stick works now fine and I tested the commands
to mount/boot as a hd

qemu -L . -m 128 -hda S: -boot c

and to mount/boot as a floppy

qemu -L . -m 128 -fda S: -boot a

both results in an error:

Booting from Hard Disk...

disk error

or with ghe -fda argument

Booting from Floppy...

disk error

the usb stick is booting fine with my PC and the
qemu is installed appropriate. Can boot other images,
like the example linux.img, included in windows version
of qemu.

What is going wrong?

btw: qemu 0.11.1 on windows

Hello,

You can try MobaliveUSB :

thank you, but that tool try to install kqemu.
But qemu _and_ kqemu is already installed and
working fine.

There is no need to install kqemu again.
And I assume, probably the wrong version

Is there a possibility to use that tool, which seems
to be just qemu, without kqemu, when running from usb?

To test USB boot inside Windows :
You can boot a physical USB drive with QEMU using \\.\PhysicalDrive? where "?" is the drive number.
Example: your USB is PhysicalDrive1 (internal disk is PhysicalDrive 0):
qemu.exe -L . -m 256 -hda \\.\PhysicalDrive1 -boot c -localtime -soundhw all -net nic -net user -usb

An easy way is to use Qemu Manager:
http://www.davereyn.co.uk/download.htm
and after you have succeeded in booting with settings made through the GUI, you "peek" at the "last command line".
