I'm consistently getting an error in 15CoreHelp.script.

The lines:

IniRead,"%PInfo%","TargetStrings","sStartmenu_Accessories",%AccDir%IniRead,"%PInfo%","TargetStrings","sSystem_Tools",%SysToolsDir%Set,%tmp%,%pTextBox1%If,%tmp%,Equal,"",Set,%tmp%,"System Information"Add_Shortcut,StartMenu,"%AccDir%\%SysToolsDir%","%PE_Programs%\%DirCommonFiles%\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo\MSINFO32.exe",%tmp%
and the log shows:
IniRead - [%BaseDir%\Workbench\LiveXP\UserData\ProjectInfo.ini] Section [TargetStrings] Key [sCommon_Files] to variable: [%DirCommonFiles%] with value [Common Files] ... IniRead - [%BaseDir%\Workbench\LiveXP\UserData\ProjectInfo.ini] Section [TargetStrings] Key [sStartmenu_Accessories] to variable: [%AccDir%] with value [Accessories] IniRead - [%BaseDir%\Workbench\LiveXP\UserData\ProjectInfo.ini] Section [TargetStrings] Key [sSystem_Tools] to variable: [%SysToolsDir%] with value [System Tools] SetVar - Sucessfuly changed the value of [%tmp%] to: [System Information] IF - [System Information] is not equal to: [] evaluated string: [If,%tmp%,Equal,"",Set,%tmp%,"System Information"] Run - Failed to find section [AddShortcut] in file: [%API%]
where the last line is the error. Anybody else seeing this? What's wrong with that line?

Please tell us the WB version. If it is WB RC1, maybe you found a bugBut my first assumption is that %API% is undefined.
Is it in script.project and does it exist?
Did you get the error inside a project run or in a single file run or in Codebox?

I'm not home right now .. I think it's WB076. I don't know about %API% right now ... but the script line that causes the error does not include %API%. All the variables that do appear are defined. So I don't see how %API% comes into the picture.

This happens in project runs. I haven't tried a single-file run or codebox.

Looks like we again have to explain some ;)

There is any difference between your PC contents and the 'standard WB user's' PC content.

I like these expeditions! ;)

BTW: Nice to hear that it is not WB077 RC1 :)

Also nice to hear 'project run'. Makes it easier :) ?

I'm going to make some experiments and maybe will ask you tomorrow for some more info.

Hi JonF

just made a test build with enableing RF MMC + RF CoreHelp + wb076 . No log error.

I have a series of ideas for the issue you have, but instead of any assumptions better to wait a mini log file from you.

@JonF

You are now in the best hands to solve your issue.

I'm only one of the three programmers in the WinBuilder development team, with a restricted knowledge about the real demand of users.

The latest answer brougth you into the helpful hands of a professional user with propably no programming experience, but with a series of ideas.

In this special case the new situation seems to be the best root to solve your issue. The issue is on 'user' side.

I'm going to strike-through (for me) your question and go back to my personal ToDo list.

It is 076.

In script.project %API% is defined as %ProjectDir%\Basic\Build\api.script.

I'll have to do another build to get a log.

Sheesh. Now the error doesn't show up.

But when I boot the ISO and open Explorer, it never shows any items. If I click on a button or menu item, it crashes.

If I turn off all app scripts, then the RegFactory VM installer fails with "File copy failed". If I leave the apps and disable regfactory, the shell won't start.

Damn. Guess I'll download a clean setup and try again.

Does anyone have such experience that the PENetwork.script and the 20CoreNet.script are incompatible?
(I mean at me when both script selected somehow there is problem with the network services)

@JonF

RegFactory VM installer fails with "File copy failed"

Yep this happened once me too, but dont know how ! There is a vodoo around. Some usual vodoo suspects in my mind: wb076 math problem, maybe vdk, maybe uninstall oldimdisk than install new imdisk procedure, ........ ! --> Nope i couldnt reproduce, simply when things work, things work.....

Damn. Guess I'll download a clean setup and try again.

Sorry for all troubles with RF. I make builds with my slow pc time to time to be sure everything all right ! An advice, Enable RF-IE script (will be done on server in 5 minutes) ;). Also another hint, Update RF scripts & script.project .

Besides, RF Scripts dependencies are not written or checked on RF scripts. Already pmed fxscrpt for that. Hint is: Use default enabled scripts ;) (I delete and dl RF scripts (in core dir) time to time to make tests :))

@dera
yep long time ago besides other things i noticed that too (but cant remember much now). You are the one around who can offer a fix :).
ps: Thanks to java, i will test as soon as possible.

@all
RF is evolving, Latest news from fxscrpt is/was there will be 2nd generation RF including enchancements. We already have %RegFactoryState% variable defined recently (disabled/enabled) for RF and other individual script, As a result we can make current scripts more compatible for RF. Time.

I am sorry, I cant contribute to RF much since i got busy on other things before, lately i only focus on LiveXP but still I have too slow pc for RF, my skills and motivation are not enough to speed up things (turtle), and loong dynamic todo list.... Any help will be appreaciated and as well known will be on server as quick as possible.

Is it possible that the 'voodoo around' really is a 'feature' of WinBuilder?

Please give me more concentrated information (I do not follow this forum regularly) in order to check whether a WB bug has to be killed.

See you tomorrow

EDIT: I looked with Debugger and did not find an issue.
But I'm quizzical about

... wb076 math problem ...

I do not want to hear in some weeks

As I already told HERE, ...

So, please tell us what's the fact.

Dera, should be compatible.
What's the problem?. Please explain more.

With intention of better USB support
i have extended related scripts. The result is ok:

1. USB hardware can be uninstalled/reinstalled as often as you want
2. HID devices are redetected, even if you reinstall usb-hubs.
3. You can boot PE via USB-cdrom drive.
4. hwpnp installs hardware in a more 'logical' order.

Many thanks to Lancelot for supporting me and finding bugs.

But it's not perfekt:

hwpnp -all +STORAGE\Volume mounts only one partition
for multi-partition USB-HDD's.
(use mountstorpe , thanks kare)

The real problem (not new for extended scripts, was always there):

1. Run your iso in vmware.
2. Plug in an usb-hdd. (important!, there is no problem 'superfloppy' UFD)
3. Start device manager and disable usb-hdd under 'disk drives'.
4. re-enable usb-hdd.

You will get error code 38.
(disk.sys cannot be unloaded from memory)

This error will occur only if you try to stop disk.sys for the last
disk attached to your system and only for xp builds.
The only workaround i know is to start disk.sys from another location
(copy disk.sys / alter corresponding ImagePath)
(no problem for real pc's, they should have at least one fixed disk)

Is there a way to keep disk.sys loaded,
even if last drive is uninstalled?

Is there an fake busdriver/diskdriver to keep disk.sys alive?

Why problem does not exsit for W2003 builds?

Should pc emulators use an (virtual) disk by default?

;)
Peter
PS: copy essvc.exe to %Tool% folder

get this error message:

err1.png

this error occurs when '20CoreNet.script' enabled + the language of the source CD is hungarian (XP SP2)

when the source is english there is no such error
or
there is no error when hungarian source used but the '20CoreNet.script' is disabled

Hi JonF

Thanks for 077RC1 test result,

The error you found with 077rc1 also noticed before with 077b3 (i totally forgot it and found hardly in my archive) and known by fxscrpt (pm jun 4), thanks for reminding.
But you may notice through mainly 2 topics I made tests with 7 versions after wb076 and there always a reason found not to use them with LiveXP either by me or other users. My tests always ended before publishing any RF test.
We have no such RF error with wb076 which is still the official LiveXP version !!!!!.
fxscrpt is around these days, very busy with RF and I am sure he will find the reason with 077rc1. He is The LiveXP Hero ;)

The BootSdi/vdk error is important !
Also "BootSdi Script" is a bit puzzled for now ! I will pm galapo for a fix since it is delayed for a long while. (Reason: we guesssed fixed wb version can be used in a short while after 076, but things didnt go that way)

As a result, there maybe one more vodoo for vdk left around (guessing you have latest bootsdi+wimpack) reported by you and wyefye. (and me)
wyefye wrote pm to me (reason known i hope)

that log came from a machine that is on the domain. I have network admin rights, but winbuilder complains that i don't every time i start it. I guess it looks for local account admin rights, not network admin rights. This could be part of the issue i guess.

http://lancelot.winb.../5F/ryanlog.zip
I dont know detail info for "local/network admin rights" but since there is 1 more unknown vdk issue around, every tip is important to take notice ;).

Well what found so far with BootSdi are tips on vdk usage with different WinOS. Further plan is having imdisk optional (and probably selected default) with bootsdi+wimpack.
Things go slow because of "known" reasons, we have new fixes/addings/etc everyday for the "was working" scripts and there is new features/fixes waiting to be added.

Several month ago I had some e-mail traffic with Ken Kato about including his VDK into WinBuilder. He gave me several hints 'HowTo' and I included them all in the recompile. The result you can download from the nativeEx server (Maybe, but I'm not sure that the vdk in LiveXp tools is identic)

Sherpya made a 64 bit recompile, where I do not know whether it is from the source changed by me and contains all the WinBuilder specific items.
But the

Further plan is having imdisk optional

is very important.

I would like to change it to

Because Imdisk is our 'home' virtualizer, we MUST have imdisk mandatory

BTW: In nativeEx_barebone you do not find vdk any more, only ImDisk ... ;)
That means: in nativeEx is the LiveXP's plan already realized.

It is only a question of 'Read', 'Understand' and 'Clone'

@all

New bootsdi script (v99) is on the server
Verrry sorry to all LiveXP users for late fix.
Use Winbuilder version of LiveXP project with new Bootsdi script.

Also the ones who had issues before, Please ReTest for verification, there was a hesitation whether the bootsdi/vdk reports caused by the script or vdk. ReTested reports will clear things.

@JonF
Very thank you for continuing support. Here is a log of bootsdi build i made similar to your log list (i removed mostly the apps you choose)
http://lancelot.winb...0618_035920.rar
I hope new bootsdi script will work better for you and others.
