Hi Everybody,

I want to make a bootable USB pen drive, with Easy2boot or Sardu utility. Apart from that I want to my

disk has an UN-formatable or UN-deletable partition which contains all by boot data, so that it cannot be deleted by other user during normal day to day operation.

I have seen a relative post on write protected usb in rmprep site.

http://www.rmprepusb...n-a-flash-drive

My question is is it possible to create write protected bootable partition on usb with all boot files.

Tell me is this possible. If yes, please guide me with a tutorial on the same

Thanking you

Kishore

Easy2Boot requires the USb drive to be writeable.

You can protect a disk or volume from being written to by Windows if it is NTFS partition by using DiskPart and setting to Read-Only - but this is ignored by linux/dos/pre-Vista OS's.

If your end users will mostly be using Windows, then you could put your boot files on the flash drive 2nd partition - this is normally not accessible under Windows and so users will not be able to delete files. However they can still format the pen drive or access the ptn using a different OS. Easy2Boot will not work however if on the 2nd partition.

If you have a pen drive that has a suitable utility, you can make a CD partition on it or a write-protected partition as described in the article - however be warned that you are likely to trash your USB pen !

If i understand you right, you want to give your USB-Stick to someone else, but he should not be able to alter the contents of the stick.

- find a USB-Stick with write protect switch
- install the data
- open up the casing, unsolder the switch, create with solder a permanent wp switch
- close the casing again
- hand the stick out

Please note: "That some BIOS seem to have trouble booting off write protected USB-Sticks.

The way easier way, imo, is to simple have a master safely tucked away and to reimage the sticks when needed.
