Poll: What do you think a "Vote!" section is for? (9 member(s) have cast votes)

What do you think a "Vote!" section is for?

  1. To vote in it, through polls. (9 votes [100.00%])

    Percentage of vote: 100.00%

  2. To discuss problems. (0 votes [0.00%])

    Percentage of vote: 0.00%

If you answered "To vote in it" above, choose one of the following:

  1. I answered "To discuss problems", you dumb poll maker (0 votes [0.00%])

    Percentage of vote: 0.00%

  2. Because OBVIOUSLY, if you have a "Vote!" section it is for Voting! (9 votes [100.00%])

    Percentage of vote: 100.00%

  3. I don't know. (0 votes [0.00%])

    Percentage of vote: 0.00%

If you answered "To discuss problems." above, choose one of the following:

  1. I answered "To vote in it", you dumb poll maker (7 votes [77.78%])

    Percentage of vote: 77.78%

  2. Because OBVIOUSLY, if you have a "Vote!" section it is for Discussions! (2 votes [22.22%])

    Percentage of vote: 22.22%

  3. I don't know. (0 votes [0.00%])

    Percentage of vote: 0.00%

Please be aware that whatever you vote, nothing will change in the way the Board is managed or organized, unless of course the Owner of the Board will come out with some "New Ideas" like the one that originally generated this section:

The reason for this forum is clear:

Place your votes to see popular requested features added.

There was one topic here on Vote that I added the other day with the intention of a poll which I (naively) hoped it could be filled with arguments pro and against both sides before a voting could be held, so that voters would get a better glimpse of what was being discussed:

Before a poll is raised, I would like to hear good arguments either pro or against the use of commas inside strings.

If Jaclaz was around, perhaps he could try to keep some of these topics in the Vote section from fragmenting away into bulky off-topic discussions.

A lot of the threads in the Vote! sub-forum are from March of 2010, and below.

Currently I need a "I do not like this" button?
Should I open a vote about creating one? :dubbio:

I re-report one of the existing issues with IPB, which, IMO, makes this poll/vote systems COMPLETELY useless.

One more point regarding forum poll suddenly came up in my mind. Even before a member cast a vote, he/she is allowed to to have a look to vote results till then in the current software(IPB). Even worse, after viewing the results, he/she is allowed to cast a vote. It's unfair & most of the time it leads to BIASED voting. If possible, I'd request u to disable this option in myBB. Ideally the software should flag a warning message to the member that if he/she wants to see the results before casting the vote, he/she won't be allowed to vote further.

Some other forum software provide buttons to rank a writing as "Insightful", "Answer" and so on. If you are available to program such feature, I see no reason why we can't try it out.
