hi everyone,

which embedded version was the first available for x64 system?

I notice there is vista embedded and also embedded standard 2009 but I do not know how to determine which was first or if there was another version prior to these?

I want to study the Enhanced Write FIlter of the earliest versions to see if it is possible to incorporate into XPx64/server2003.

I think that the earliest version would probably be best for this but I could be incorrect about that.

thanks

Embedded standard 2009 is based on NT 5.1 XP

The Vista Embedded was the first separate available x64 Embedded OS, but once we have had a Server 2003 Embedded ( i think released around 2005 or earlier, when Win XP 64 and MCE have been rolled out ) but it was on use for Point of Sales and Automation-Systems and had another titling. That's as far as i reminisce.

THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST .

=NOTE

: The Vista-Line was cut, instead the Win 7 based Embedded gained the industry-pleasing-place besides the xp-based embedded for stupid-stuff like banking-terminals, simple pos and fixed-automation .

hi S466531257BOSS,

youve helped me narrow it down. Ive found this:
http://www.mdspacifi...te=001007&idx=9
"Windows Server 2003 R2 for Embedded Systems

Windows Server 2003 R2 for Embedded Systems is based on the same core software as the general purpose versions of Windows Server 2003 R2. Windows Server 2003 R2 is a highly productive server operating system with built-in security, reliability, and availability features."

but unsure if it has the EWF component.

thanks

May i ask what you are hunting down exactly ?

If you look for industrial applications i would take a look at Siemens SiMatic Systems, there is plenty of open documentation or in case of Thin Clients just hook up on a decade-proven futro by Fujitsu Siemens , for practical purposes perfectly available for some bucks.

If you are looking for hints on how to handle EWF or better said: How MicroSoft did started to handle EWF i would point you to Using Compact Flash (CF) with the Enhanced Write Filter (EWF) --- it is disgustingly grabbed but is the most definitive entry to handle ram-cache fire-and-forget scenarios .

If you like to, please go into detail what exactly your task is.

THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST .
