Hat set r r r w w
I consider the 3 people cannot see their hats
The 3rd person cannot deduct the color of its hat then
from 4 posible scenarios only 3 are valid ones

r r ?
1 2 3

r w ?
1 2 3

w r ?
1 2 3

w w R
1 2 3 this option is not compatible with 3rd person answer "I do not know"
if person 1 & 2 would've had white hats person 3 would've known he got a red hat.

now the 2rd person cannot deduct the color of its hat either then
from 3 posible scenarios only 2 are valid ones

1 2 3 this option is not compatible with 2nd & 3rd person answers "I do not know"
person 3 answer => 1 & 2 do not have both white hats
person 2 answer => person 1 cannot have a white hat if not person 2 would've known he got a red one

now the 3rd person considering the previous answers can only have a RED hat

here's my post again, as I posted to the wrong topic...

Ask to change around the outcome of the colour choice, ie pick a black pebble and she need not marry him and her father's debt would still be forgiven. The probability would remain the same for a fair choice so why would the moneylender object?

You think too logical and not lateral enough!

One can't trick a trickster, by asking him nicely, if he agrees to changing the rules.

Here's another on for you guys....

You're driving down a dessert highway with your call fully loaded and very little space when you suddenly come by a bus stop. There are 3 people standing at the bus stop.

A very good friend of yours who once id you a great favor. He's late for a business meeting and really needs a lift.
An old woman who is need of a hospital. She doesn't look well at all and time is limited.
A woman who you have never met before but you think she is the woman of your dreams.

Who should you take with you?

Lend car to friend, and get him to take old lady to hospital on his way to his meeting.

Stay at the bus stop and determine if she really is the "woman of your dreams"

Interesting solution!
Of course, it assumes, that people drive around with their cars, packed to the roof, just for fun.
Which i doubt very much ;), based on the fuel prices here in Germany.

In my little experience of Germany I never saw a desert highway (nor a dessert one) anyway. ;) (nor bus stops along them) :whistling:

It must have been in a hypotethical place near Alice Springs or Area 51.....

Could I add one more brain teaser to the set?

What to ask? (my own version)

You participate in a Rally in which you have to solve enigmas in order to accumulate points or to save time.
In the last leg of the Rally you arrive at a fork where two officials stand waiting for you.
You need to choose the path of the fork that will lead you to the last check point.
To win the Rally, you cannot afford to “Guess” which path to take since choosing the wrong path would have you strongly penalized by the officials.
Your Rally instructions tell you that you may ask one question only, to either one of the two officials.
Your instructions also tell you that one official always tells the truth and the other always tells lies but you do not know which one is which.

What question would you ask and to whom of the two officials, in order to know without any doubt which path leads to the last check point?

What would you recommend that the girl do?

Actually, truly lateral thinking may come from the girl asking to jointly choose 2 peddles to put in the bag, and then letting her farther to pickup a peddle from the bag. This way, no matter what they end up with, she wouldn't blame herself all her life for the outcome Nuno predicted, whatever it is. :suda:

Found this little joke test a couple of years ago on the net.

Turned out to be the best IQ test ever! Cause no amount of education or life experience is helpful.
This makes this test, the best IQ-test for people with vastly different ages or educational backgrounds.

4 right answers - You're a certified genius or an enormous liar! ;)
3 right answers - You're MedEvil smart. ;)
2 right answers - You're still above average smart.
1 right answer - Congratulations you belong to the majority of people on this planet!
0 right answers - Don't give up! Maybe one of your descendants will learn to walk upright!

Have fun!
