Hello,

I have an original Windows 7 Ultimate disk which has the ei.cfg and can only install the Ultimate edition.

Is there someway I can force the installer to allow the installation of all the other editions? Keep in mind that we are talking about an already burned disk, so no ei.cfg modifications can be done.

Thank you.

Well, technically you can simply dump the media to disk with something like WinNTSetup or diskpart the installation destination bootsect it bcdboot it and use dism to extract install.wim.

Just SHIFT-F10 on setup and run the tool from USB or HD.

-edit-

as for lisencing options you can also use "slmgr /upk" which basically removes MS generic product key and use same tool or windows control panel -> system to activate any license you desire. Works thru Vista->10

I don't think dism can be used for this operation. Windows 7, shift+f10, running:

Dism /Mount-Wim /WimFile:install.wim /Index:1 /MountDir:c:\mount

Outputs the error:

Error: 87

The mount-wim option is unknown.
For more information, refer to the help by running DISM.exe /?.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

The log file tells me that i am missing "wimgapi.dll" or "wimserv.exe".
