I save a lot of webpages onto my computer, but I've just tried to save this one and it doesn't work:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/894199

Anyone know why this could be? M$ bloody-mindedness?

Or maybe it's just me and my W7 Ultimate. Neither Firefox or IE will do the job.

BTW, it'll 'save-as' .txt, but none of the other 3 options.

Thanks for reading.

Might be because off the use of https:

I think it(IE,FIREFOX) saves only the none secure part of a website

Many modern, rather complex, websites with lots of scripts and styles have problems with this. I usually solve it by printing the page to a print-to-PDF (or some other print-to-file) printer and that usually works.

Thanks guys.

TheHive: Don't think it was that, I've saved https pages often.

Olaf: Okay, I get it. But I don't recall another page that's behaved like this.

And, yes, the PDF thing works. I'd already grabbed it with Faststone.

I've never been happy with the quality of Faststone captures, though, The resultant PDF always comes out looking a bit fuzzy.

BTW, did either of you try saving that page?

Using firefox 32 it would only save the top portion.

Interesting. I get nothing at all. Unless I save it as text.

As well as the suggested printing to PDF I also use Evernote, I tested and it saved the page to the Evernote app using the "Clip to Evernote" utility. You can then export it as an HTML page.  Kind of a half-assed way around the problem but it works.  I've used it on problem pages like this before.
