Plop is a read-only driver and won't work with E2B because E2B writes to the USB drive partition table for ISOs.

You cannot use Plop + E2B.

I'm testing 8.1 with E2B but the setup doesn't recognize the hdd.

I've tested in 5 machines with same error.

Many thanks for such a piece of software

What HDD? What systems?

Does it boot using QEMU from RMPrepUSB?

If it boots using QEMU then the problem is the BIOS on the systems you are using - go into BIOS Setup menu and go to Boot menu and change boot order to include USB HDD  or maybe press a function key to get BBS  (BIOS Boot Selection) Menu and then pick the USB HDD to boot from.

steve6375,

on your website you suggest to use flashboot for format + install grub4dos on usb stick because of 99% compatibility. are you sure about that? maybe i am just within 1% incompatibility my PC. i did format fat32 + installed grub with flashboot (did not try with your RMPrepUSB yet).

on that website state this:

FlashBoot does not shift to user the burden of choice between "USB-ZIP" and "USB-HDD" at format time and proper BIOS setup at boot time. There is one unified format, "Multiformat", and every USB disk is formatted in such way that it will work in every environment properly, regardless of current BIOS setting.

what does actually mean Multiformat? i can boot into my stick only if i choose in bios "usb-hdd", when i choose another option (usb-fdd, usb-cdrom, usb-zip) PC won't boot into my usb stick.

however my problem is when i boot into e2b menu and i choose one option then menu will jump to another sub-menu but PC is complete frozen (my keyboard does not respond, i have to hard restart PC). i have to mention my PC/bios is old (around 10 years), mainboard is from Epox. on my newer laptop e2b is working good

That looks normal.

So are you saying that you can run an ISO (say) from the main menu, but when you select a sub-menu it freezes?

As an experiment, can you rename hotkey and menusetting  in the \_ISO\e2b\grub folder - it will look strange but see if sub-menus work...

same problem, the main manu is working, sub-menu not. i can see sub-menu but can not do nothing except for hard restart.

if i put .iso linux direct to the main menu, it jump from e2b menu to the linux menu... but again i can do nothing, PC is frozen.

btw it seems in flashboot that many issues take care stage2 loader. is this loader installed in mbr? now i have grub4dos installed from your program because yesterday something went wrong and my usb stick did not to boot (that time i had grub4dost prepared by flashboot).

So, if you copy a linux iso file to \_ISO\MAINMENU folder, it appears in the Main Menu. When you select the ISO file in the Main Menu, instead of it running the ISO, it jumps to the Linux submenu???? That is very odd!

i am talking abou Kali linux, it is normal it jumps to sub-menu because that distro has many options to run as sub-menu, i just can not move to the next step and choose my pick + ENTER. the keyboard does not respond to me...

That is not a sub-menu of E2B, that is the kali linux main menu!

So if you boot from a kali linux CD on that PC, does it work? It sounds like a problem with linux (isolinux/syslinux) rather than E2B...

So, to be specific, If you boot to the main menu and then use the cursor keys to select the DOS menu, the E2B DOS menu loads but you cannot use the keyboard?

F8 - e2b will reload (boot again from start).

ps/2 keyboard is working well so there will be some problem with usb. my thought is there is something wrong with my old usb ports...

It is strange that F8 does not cause a problem but loading a submenu does.

It would be very valuable to try to find out what is causing it.

Are you able to do some diagnostics if I give you instructions (using the USB kbd, of course)?

P.S. Are you using standard E2B or are you using GFXmenu?

P.P.S. Are you using a password - try

!BAT
set pwd=

in a \_ISO\Mye2b.cfg file

Using the USB keyboard on the 'bad' system, run E2B and load the Main menu.

Then go to the grub4dos command shell (type p then easy2boot and then c)

Now type in each line and press Enter after each one at the command console.

Notice that > is used on the 3rd line and then >> is used after that:

set MFOLDER=/_ISO/DOS
set HDG=\x20Test
echo write 0x8274 0x2001 > (md)0x3000+0x50
if not "%GFX%"=="" echo gfxmenu /_ISO/%GFX% >> (md)0x3000+0x50
echo  write (md)0x220+1 !BAT\necho -n -P:0000 $[0103] HELP\0 >> (md)0x3000+0x50
set HDG=
echo initscript (md)0x220+1 >> (md)0x3000+0x50
if not "%pwd%"=="" echo -e \npassword %pwd%\n >> (md)0x3000+0x50
set STARTMENU=NONE
set LBACKMENU=/%grub%/menu.lst
echo Adding .mnu entries from %MFOLDER% folder...  %redir%
/%grub%/AUTOMN.g4b .automenu %MFOLDER%
set STARTMENU=
configfile (md)0x3000+0x50
