Please clarify "wimgapi.dll not compatible" resolution steps

wimgapi wimfltr build error

Best Answer paraglider , 22 April 2014 - 10:53 AM

Windows 8 / 8.1 versions of wimgapi use wimmount not wimfltr driver. if you have the wimfltr driver installed you should stop and delete it.

I am able to build WIN7PE with no problems.

WIN8PE and WIN8.1PE  both fail with the same error, this tells me the problem is general to Winbuilder and not to the projects.

"Wimfltr service running

wingapi.dll not compatible with wimfltr running.

to fix read 'Waik Troubles'."

I have read this 'Waik troubles' multiple times, I have stumbled through trying to pull the required files out of the ADK install and place them in the corresponding folders. It still does not work.  I am sure It is something I am not doing right, but I can't seem to figure out what I am missing.

Again, 7 works like a dream.  I would really like to use 8 or 8.1.

Can i get some more detailed instructions?  specific file locations?  one would think there was a Batch or a powershell script that could resolve this.........

What you report seems to lead to the wimfltr service (evidently of an incompatible/early version) running.

What happens if you check with sc.exe  (as in the "Waik_trouble.htm"):

B)
If you want to use KB3AIK_XX's imagex.exe (=wimmount) ,
than be sure wimfltr service is not running. (check with "sc.exe query wimfltr" --> If Status is 4 , than running) (Thanks to JFX & Wimb)
IF wimfltr service not running, than you can safely use KB3AIK_XX's imagex.exe
IF wimfltr service is running, than RESTART your computer.

To get the appropriate WAIK tools you can use:

Alternatively, you can ask for help on the Win8PESE thread here:

http://www.msfn.org/...1226-win8pe-se/

where you can "talk" directly with the Author ChrisR.

I will look into removing the filter.

That is the information I needed.  Maybe this information was more evident to others, but I just wasn;t sure if that was the right move.

I deleted the Driver (WimFltr) from C:Windows|System32\Drivers

And delete the Reg Entry (WIMfltr) from hklm\system\current control set\Services
