Hi everyone,
I just discovered WinBuilder and Win7PE_SE a couple days ago and I must say, it's fantastic! Very easy to setup and use.

However, I have come across a problem which I was hoping to get help with. The problem is certainly due to my ignorance and not with WinBuilder or Win7PE_SE. I have searched the forum and the web and I'm unable to come up with a solution.

I am hoping to create a Win7PE_SE build in order to provide support for numerous Windows machines that are encrypted with Symantec PGP. Symantec provides instructions on how to add the PGP WDE (whole-disk-encryption) tools to a WindowsPE. I have been able to use a very simple WindowsPE with essentially just those tools at a command prompt, but I would really like to integrate them into Win7PE_SE. This would allow me -within Win7PE_SE- to view the contents of the encrypted drive, run diagnostics, etc.

You can view Symantec's KB article for adding the tools to a WindowsPE here: http://www.symantec....t&id=TECH149477
The machines I want to work with are all encrypted with PGP 10.2, so this additional KB article is relevant: http://www.symantec....t&id=HOWTO64225

The furthest I've gone is by getting help from this article (by user "Alakadebra"): http://reboot.pro/8315/ But unfortunately it was written back in 2009 and for VistaPE.

Alakadebra created a PDF (referenced in his post above) which provides instructions for adding the PGP WDE tools to the build in WinBuilder (see page 15): http://www.stanford....t Notes VKT.pdf

I followed his instructions as closely as possible, created the new ISO in my project and booted it in VMWare player, but alas, the 'pgpwde' command (which is what you use to authenticate the encrypted drives) is not recognized....like I never properly injected the files.

I'm at a loss at this point. I was hoping to find help on simply setting up a script in my WinBuilder project which would run the commands that Symantec gives in their KB article. Is that possible?

Thanks,
Ryan

I don't own PGP so can't be of much help there. I would suggest you try using the Driver Integration Plugin in the Win7PESE project to add the PGP files if possible. I see Symantec makes references to specific directories. If you have a working plugin for VistaPE, chances are it might work on a Win7PESE project.

This post on UBCDWin could be useful as well to create a compatible Win7PESE plugin.
