Partition layout of NTFS is quite complicated, I don't think it is feasible to construct it in fbinst. Besides, you can still reformat the data partition as NTFS using the format command of windows.

It wasn't pinned intentionally, for TWO reasons:

• it is still in full development
• we wanted to really surprise you

You "surely" know what I meant, and in my humble opinion it is not enough that with a new reply then the topic appears in the board's Welcome screen.
Frankly, I'm surprised also for another reason. I think you are one of the most (if not the most) effective, assiduos and reputed "member" out (and in) there: and I think that you cannot disregard about that.
Thanks to your knowledge and availability your words are very useful and considered, and almost always everybody thank you for your presence.
So, if and when you wish to support any "topic" then that topic itself is followed from many and many users, with a consequent greater (interest and) knowledge about itself.
If you don't (for any reason), then the topic itself will follow its "fate", and often it will forget in the fall.
I did not read anything of yours about it. And I still did not read about your interest.
So, I think that your "help" is crucial, and also I think that "noblesse oblige".
However I did not read everything-&-everywhere and sorry in advance if maybe I could be wrong.

Since 07/05/2009, there has been roughly a release per week, each one with better and enhanced functionalities.

As you well know, I can boot all machines with "normal" methods, so I have no "direct" interest in the thing, nor a way to test it.

In case you don't know this, I am NOT payed to review and comment on any software release of the world.

FYI, lately, besides having a life , I was spending my time on other projects, some of which, and with no offence whatsoever intended for bean123's very good work , with a higher priority IMO:l

How will the USB sticks be structured and why do it that way?

just for the record , he is going to incorporate syslinux to v 1.5 with g4d as option . i mean BEFORE any boot loader boots (at least thats what i could understand from google translate ) .

and btw v 1.4 is out . although i have not yet tested it it .

fbinst is a very interesting tool!

suggestion: it would be nice if you can implement some kind of "refresh drive"
after a format operation (currently a disconnect/reconnect of the flash drive is
needed to update the actual content, so fbinst is not fully usable in scripts).

i have seen 2 Gui's of this tool , and jianliulin's gui seems promising . can u ask him to make a eng version too or plzzz add it to ur to-do list later (no time limit )

the last SEMI english gui from same author was 1.03 i guess . after that no english gui that i have seen.

Phoenix BIOS (year 200X version) has:

1、Hide Or Expose MBR Farcall---Hide or Expose First Head if possible
it's readme says:
Hide or unhide the first head, if the device supports the appropriate command.
This command was developed for ZIP drives, It basically enables
fixed-disk-formatted media to appear like a fixed or removable disk at will.

2、fakechs proc
it's readme says:
solve ZIP 100/250 4 different toltal sector counts;
returns whether the device(UMSD) should be configured as fixed or removable, and
whether it supports partition hiding or unhiding.

I guess the other BIOS(AMD & AMI) should have the same fuctions such as phoenix.

I am trying to use fbinst, but I cannot load grldr nor ntldr as indicated. I tried most grldr versions available.

fbint version 1.5 build 1 (2009-06-20)

fbinst (hd1) load grldr
=> fbinst: error: invalid archive file

Is there a solution?

Thank you too. I see your activities at the fbinst BBS. Since grub4dos can load syslinux, so adding either syslinux or ntldr to fbinst menu is not useful, isn't ? fbinst interest would be its more universal booting in place of normal methods, could you confirm?
