btw. just mailed my friend about the RAM issue
He said there is no RAM issue. Just some entries in system.ini to burn excessive RAM and win98 was ready to be moved to a modern PC as InstantOS.

:cheers:

hmmm :whistling: I would use W98 if that dude from MSFN makes his patches free :cheers: though, he doesn't have any solution for current GPUz

Well yes and no, there is a RAM issue, and there is a workaround for it. (actually at least TWO of them)

If you don't have a working driver for your network card it is a problem.
If you don't manage to get more than 640x480 or 800x600 it is a problem.

Problems are there to be solved and/or worked around, but they do exist.

Yes a working network driver is a must. The graphics driver is non-problem, i believe. There exist Vesa drivers for Win98 and modern graphic cards are still vesa compatible, as far as i know. :cheers:

@L
What problem with GPU do you see?

If you take some time on the originally given thread:
http://www.msfn.org/...and-windows-9x/
you will see how graphics/GPU ALSO WAS a problem until bearwindows came to rescue. (and it doesn't mean that on other hardware a problem still exists :cheers: )
And how for network a possibly better solution is a USB network stick.
