[NotActiveProject] BB-7PE
#1
Posted 07 July 2010 - 06:41 PM
BB-7PE is a Windows PE 3.0 like environment, with bbLean as Shell. (32 and 64bit)
It is a pure rescue system, without multimedia capabilities and without 3D support.
It should be visually appealing and full comfort, with small amount of memory usage.
What is bbLean?
bbLean is the lean version of Blackbox for Windows. It tries to keep balance between features and complexity, to give you some efficient means within a compact shell.
Advantages of this shell
it is small and fast
virtual desktops are also supported
looks very good and the look is extremely customizable
Status of the BB-7PE
32-bit version is stable
64-bit version is RC1

thanks for the tip
but I have added almost everything needed, except for three or four things that are already in work
I hope the project is compatible enough that the user also can add more application scripts

Your project reminded me TeutonPE which has similar goal like yours but for pe1x86 world .
I noticed you spend time on making scripts that already exists on above links (which you might notice some useful differences), hence decided inform you that these 2 projects provide very compatible and frequently updated application script for all projects.
Anyway, Here are more tips
Well, story is, yahoouk started with vistape11 design where api for vistape11 used, but yahoouk left project without integrating capi which is a compatibility measure between most projects (=capi projects).I hope the project is compatible enough that the user also can add more application scripts
like you, JFX also continued from yahoouk's multi7pe here
http://www.boot-land...showtopic=10693
but also capi integrated hence it is easy to share scripts in between. (=you can easly check differences to figure out capi integration)
You may also get interested to JFX's project wow64 script
Keep the good work, thanks for sharingexcept for three or four things that are already in work

thanks for the tip with the Multi 7PE SE project

I will be at the core files from Multi 7PE SE Projeckte change, as there already has been done so much work it is not all that smart to invent new again
I hope I get this no problems when I use the work of you

On a WIN7 x64 host I built your project and tested in both x86 and x64 builds
X86 version built and booted fine – (in VMware)
X64 version (which I know is experimental at this time), it rebooted –(In Vmware)
I remember something JFX was having trouble and setting a time out for PE SHELL ???
Maybe you will find it in his work
Another way might be to make a stand alone (BB-7 shell script) that user could add to a Win7PE project?
Thanks for making this project available for testing……

a separate shell script will come
I want the shell script very strongly expand, so that you can customize it with your own extensions, menu, styles and wallpapers to their needs

I have tested with win7pe_SE and it works very well
all necessary files are loaded from the win7 DVD
I hope you enjoy it
Advantages of this shell
it is small and fast
virtual desktops are also supported
looks very good and the look is extremely customizable

Innovations:
new core is a custom multi win7pe_se
this should also run 64bit
the shell has been optimized
the menu has been optimized
the programs and the shell should now cooperate better
some new programs added
Explorer+ + (integrated into the shell)
Universal Viewer (integrated in the system)
Some programs removed
Super Finder XT (superseded by Explorer + +)
QDir (superseded by Explorer + +)

When using your full package BB-7PE
Tested and built using
Vista x86 and all went well…
Win7 x 86 all went well
With a Win7 x 64 build there is some differences but I know this is still experimental
One thing with Package down load,, is PNP I could not get my network card detected
With Your Shell script added to a Win7PE_SE build I do not have PNP problems
How do I change time??? is there a way for me to adjust clock??
#14
Posted 20 July 2010 - 03:51 PM
thank you for the test!
what are the differences that exactly?
it works at the x86 and x64 versions?
I had solved the problem that you can change the resolution, adjust clock is then the next
what is missing, what is to add?
is still much to do but I am confident!

Grub4DOS – says Win7PE not BB7PE
Alpha bar is at top of Desktop
On left Quick launch bar? – Nothing is displayed, no shortcuts
UniversalViewer – error hhctrl.ocx is missing
Hardware Wizard failed to launch
Partition find and mount – error Device driver service can not be started
Changing the resolution works.
PNP works, Network card is detected - QT web works,,
Over all this is fast and small around 280mb with a x64 build
I will test more later,, Thanks
When you offer an update package can you add the date to the file name not just the link?
I get confused easily

Extract this to \Projects\BB-7PE\BB-CoreUniversalViewer – error hhctrl.ocx is missing
+
Extract this to \Projects\BB-7PE\Apps\Accessories
Try this one herePartition find and mount – error Device driver service can not be started
I hope both works on BB-7PE Win7x64 build now

Lancelot all your fixes worked with the download package,, that I do not think is available anymore? ..Or is that another topic??
Altorian I see you have a new stand alone add-on shell, I will check it out..
where is my coffee

I have no new stand alone script
I have a new BB-7PE package
But the new stand-alone script
will you continue to put on it to the Windows explorer?
or am I going to decouple from BB-7PE?
BB4WIN + Explorer + + = slim and fast
BB4WIN + Win Explorer = big but perhaps more adjustment possibilities

Preferances will be up to user and how they use their PE,
I like slim and fast to run antispyware or antivirus and just to check out a computer quick
I like Explorer or Total Commander, So i am not use to Explorer + + yet...
Offering shell script gives user both Multi Win7PE_SE and BB_7PE... with all add on script options.. but its big
A user can quickly switch back and forth between Win7PE-SE desktop and BB-7PE
Using your Full Package is fast and light... Explorer ++. Qtweb
I like the options the way they are for now.. I am sure you will hear more as people try BB-7PE

The builder was in German for some reason, but the fields were pretty obvious so it wasn't a big deal.
I would add BGINFO from Sysinternals (http://technet.micro...s/bb897557.aspx) to paint some tech information on the desktop, otherwise looks great.

Change language in Winbuilder - tools - next to last tab is Language --dropdownbox to default,,,
x64 build -
Desktop is correct ,,,
Shortcut bar,, works
Clock works.
So far all programs work
Set Resolution - works
BlackBox styles - 3colors works
liveXP app scripts and many scripts i use work and are displayed in menu correctly
Great work

I do not know if works bginfo
The black box uses a suitable desktop
I must look at the times and test it
PS: I have just looked at it and I'm afraid it is not really compatible
I could create a script, and reconfigure all but I do not think it is worth the effort
bginfo with an overlay is better, in the nature of Everest

hi SuperTechie

It does work on a plain jane Vista/7 PE disc that I built using the WAIK. I think it is very small, so it shouldn't add that much time to the boot process (maybe 1 second?)

I think if you look around there is a add on script for (bginfo)
I know bginfo was a script i used with VistaPE, i just cant find anything anymore
Then someone moves post around, I give up
