Sorry, onother small but important glitch in the upload.

The attached file is missing.

Unzip it into your WinBuilder directory.

I'll correct the download.

Peter

Thanks! It works better now. However some of the plugins still are broken. I can navigate to them to launch them, but the start menu entries are broken. Also typing config win7pe does not work. It tells me it cannot find win7pe installed. if I type config core win7pe I do get a dialogue but its not the same config options I saw mentioned in this thread earlier.

Give me some days to test. I did not really test excessively under Linux.

Awesome! That is fine with me! :) If it helps, I am using MX15 http://www.mepiscommunity.org/mxwhich is based on Debian Jessie.  Let me know if you need me to test anything.

Let me first try with my Ubuntu. When that runs well (I assume some slash / backslash issues), lets look at MX 15.

Peter.

... all this time believing that the "selling point" of the new Billy Bob was that - being Java based - was platform independent... :whistling:

It is theoretically platform independent. But in practice still sometimes there appear nice animals, called bugs.

Yep, bugs can happen, but if the bugs apply to Linux generically, this neatly means that since 13th October 2015 only 1 (one) person tried to run the Winbuilder under Linux and asked for assistance.

This can be read as an indication of any of:
1) the numerous Linux users are so tech savvy and advanced that they solved the bugs themselves without needing assistance or are simply too proud to ask for it
2) the numerous Linux users are so shy that they didn't dare to ask for assistance nor to post a bug report and had a failed build similar to the one Shoshi described.

I find the second possibility more likely, my hat goes then off :hi: to Shoshi, for standing out from the Linux crowd  .

Yes, I already fixed some erroneous plugins. Partly download URLs have been changed by the author and were no nonger available. Information during download / installl of plugins is now more describing for the user.

Yesterday I reproduced the shortcut issue on Mint. I think tonight it is fixed.

In half an hour you can download a test at http://winbuilder.ex...-03-07.test.zip

Best will be to unzip into an empty directory and start from scratch.

On plugin install, only ERROR and FAILURE messages are real errors. INFO and WARNING etc. give hints that the user has to do something before adding the plugin to the project.

Some of these require you to do some extra steps like making a folder and running the app. But in Linux, even with wine some of these apps will not run.

Also, this did not give me any hints.

11:57:43 [COMMAND] install PiriformRecuvaPortable

11:57:43 [RUNNING] Downloading and installing "PiriformRecuvaPortable", please wait..
11:57:44 [COMPLETED] "PiriformRecuvaPortable" application was not installed completelly!

See the help: config ?

Config core win7pe

Also, this did not give me any hints.

I'll again go through all plugins and try to make the output more explaining.

BTW: By a glitch in the upload assemblation batch again certification errors appear. I'll fix.

Indeed! Like I mentioned earlier I did see a core version of config win7pe, But it looks different from the image you posted earlier in this thread. Looking at it again it does look like it has a lot of the same config options but not them all.

Out of curiosity, is there a way to add portable apps that are not one of the 21 on this website? If I made a folder structure and added the apps there could ti just add them?

You can create portable apps.
Did you already look to documentation http://reboot.pro/to...-documentation/

Because of a bug in sevenzip library not all downloaded apps *.paf.exe can be extracted directly.

See as example:

Just download and extract: HxD
Register internally but do not download and expand: PiriformRecuvaPortable
Attach to the plugin: PiriformCCleanerPortable.

To write distributable plugins you need a developer key included in the winbuilder directory.
I'll PM you your key

Latest news:

On Ubuntu I found a folder Windows\System32 in the winbuilder directory. I installed netbeans and the whole WB source on that PC. Hard work to go step by step through the debugger, where this slash / backslash issue is active. :dubbio:

But issue recognized means issue solved! :smiling9:

A new version of WinBuilder is available.

What's New in Version 2016.03.28

  • Removed incompatibility glitches when building on Linux. Install on Mint17 is running now w/o issues

Sorry that it took a while. I have been in a hospital with some heart troubles.

But now everything is ok again.

The current plugins will or will not work on the new WinBuilder. You have to test.

I'm going to upload revised plugins step by step next days.

There is a general change: PortableApps setup files (*.paf.exe) will not any more be expanded (or tried to do). There is a general issue with expanding NSIS by the current sevenzipbinding (see https://sourceforge....hread/7e226e5f/).

There are differences between expanding under Windows and Linux. Therefore I decided that the user has to deliver the app.

When installing a plugin with a *paf.exe setup, you get the hint that you have to setup the application into a named directory.

During build of the PE, when this setup is not done, you get the hint again.

I'm sorry for this inconvenience, wich cannot be solved by WinBuilder. As soon, as there is a new (running) version of sevenzipbinding, I'll include in WinBuilder and using of portable apps as plugins will become easier.

The WinBuilder dowload link has been reported as broken.

It was been caused by a new domain organisation at my provider.

The winbuilder.exec-se.de pointer was lost.

This affected not only WinBuilder, but also the plugins.

Fixed now.
