Create Native Boot VHDs

One can create a Fixed and Dynamic (expandable) Base VHD file, attach, initialize, partition and format it, and create its Differencing VHD (which contains only changes from the Base) with Diskpart. Then backup an existing Win 7 or 8 partition to that VHD or install Win 7 or 8 to it, and boot it natively from a real PC.
