I'm not sure whether this issue can be solved on the forum's site.

You have it in the appearing paypal forumlar, and the formular is filled with informations you can setup as paypal user at paypal.

You should receive a notification directly on your paypal account.

Basically, the site here just adds the HTML code with your Paypal ID. When someone clicks to donate then the person is directed to the Paypal site to make a donation directly to your email address.

Hope this helps. :-)

So the answer is 'you can't tell'?

I was wondering if you could send an email saying - someone has clicked on your PayPal link? You don't have to tell us their name/id (though it would be nice to know and match it against any paypal doantion made...

I think it should be clarified that the only thing that this site does is placing the HTML code for Paypal, pretty much in the same manner as you find at https://www.paypal.c...e-intro-outside

On the server side we have no way nor desire of intercepting any of these details as it would interfere with the privacy of others.

However, I do know a solution (just general Paypal practice):

- Register a new email address with your Paypal account (from Paypal, see the menu "Profile -> Add or Edit email")

- Here on reboot, change the email address on your paypal donation field to the new address

- Visit Paypal, on the link "Payments received" go with your mouse to the link "More filters", move your mouse at "Payment received to" and choose the email account associated with reboot donations.

This way you can track the donations made from a specific email address.

Tip: if you're using a gmail account then you can use aliases. For example, if my account name is nuno@gmail.com then I can add on Paypal the account name "nuno+reboot@gmail.com" and any emails to this address will arrive on my nuno@gmail.com inbox without any extra setup. This way you can use aliases on your paypal.com account without needing to create any new boxes.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Nuno - I was going to set up another account as you suggested, but I thought I would just check with you first.

I have a request about this paypal button: to be able to select the softwares for which we accept donations.

For instance, in my case, I can't accept money for something like ImDisk Toolkit, since it is too heavily based on the work of Olof. However, things are a bit different for my ProxyCrypt, and a user asked me why there is nothing to donate.
Of course, I can simply write my paypal address, but if there is a more elegant solution, it would be nice... :)

Unfortunately is not possible to be selective. We don't have a PHP programmer that would apply the changes.

Perhaps explaining on the imdisk toolkit post that the work is heavily based on Olof's work and add a link to his paypal donation page at http://ltr-data.se/donate.html ?
