Did you consider using the new gfxboot?

No. Firstly, it probably doesn't work on all PCs and secondly, Victor Chew doesn't want to use vesamenu.c32 (for a background picture) instead of the menu.c32 module for the menu either. In UBCD you have to load a lot of new menus, when you navigate through the menu. Each fancy drawing routine, will slow down the display of the menu.

@ tinybit:
Thanks for the clarification.
Also a big thank you for the new unmap command.

I could ask Eric Auer, maintainer (and developer?) of getargs.com if he would be so nice to write setargs.com. DOS would be needed to boot first, setargs.com to set the memdisk parameters and finally grub.exe to boot the image.

Do you see technical reasons against it?

Would it be useful?

Other question... If setargs.com as a DOS executable has not much point... Do we have the possibility to run binary code from grub4dos and to return to grub4dos after the binary code finished?

I could also ask him to write the assembler code for setmemdiskargs, however, a full patch is unlikely. What was the exact reason for not adding setmemdiskargs to grub4dos? Missing drop in implementation?

Please, don't post in this topic anymore for questions about UBCD and grub4dos.

Post in the UBCD50b12 topic instead.
