Someone I know told me they were having problems with the mouse on their Windows 7 PC. Went I went there, the mouse was behaving erratically. It was a cheap Logitech mouse and more than 5 years old. I told them to get a new mouse.
The problem persisted with the new mouse:
1) This may be related to point 2. Some mouse clicks not getting registered, some times two or three clicks required.
2) Then I noticed what may be the real problem - windows is not registering the up-click. It's as though the user is holding down the button. e.g. if the window title bar is clicked and the mouse moved away the whole window follows the mouse - as though the user is click-dragging the window.
I suspect it is a windows driver problem. How does one fully uninstall and then reinstall the mouse driver?
I tried disabling the mouse from device manager. I tried uninstalling the mouse. Did not help.
Windows 10 is also installed on another partition. The mouse works OK there. Mouse also OK with a Windows PE.
