I have an 64GB USB stick with a Phison chipset. Details as below:

Controller      : Phison
Controller model: PS2251-03

I'd like to create two partitions on this: cdfs and an ntfs partition. I have some questions about this setup:
1. is that cdfs partition writable or read-only? I'm interested in making a cdfs partition that can be editable fr easy portable software update and other things. The reason I need a cd partition is to be able to use the autorun.inf file to launch some programs automatically.

2. say nothing bad will happen: no software crashes, no power-outs; would the operation still be risky? I wouldn't want to brick my usb stick.

3. are there any tips you might have for me before doing this and mind sharing them with me?

I'm going to use Phison MPALL for this.

Thank you

At the time you create the CD/DVD partition, you select the ISO that is going to be in CD/DVD partition, later after this is done, this partition becomes only readable as a closed CD/DVD (I have one XP SP-3 fully updated install CD on a Kingston USB stick).

Only way to write to (or delete) that partition is use the Phison tool again.

Yes and no (only for the record).

Meaning that (and this depends on the stick and controller) the feature of having a two-LUNs device (one CD-like and one HD-like) has been for some time marketed as "U3" (which is a mostly senseless publicity gizmo) and there is (if the device is U3) a "plainer" tool to rewrite the CD image.

See here:

(for a number of links you will need to use the Wayback Machine)

I'm going to use Phison MPALL for this.

Why?

Try using the ModeConverter, instead, read this page (use google translate):

http://www.usbdev.ru...phison/pscdrom/

if it works on your controller (it should) it will be much easier and safer.
