Virtual-R

add following to winbuilder server list

nativeex.w07.net/win7

note for Tools files:
qemu files are available at nativeex.boot-land.net , qemuxx\keymaps are missing at both server besides they are not required by both projects.

Sorry that I did the server change w/o big announcements!

But it is not yet completed. Currently I'm trying to bring VirtualBox 3.1. emulation to run with both projects.

You know the old Greek hero 'Σίσυφος ...'

Ahh, the guy pushing the rock and when almost being on top, the rock rolls down again! :whistling: Great guy that Σίσυφος. Hrm, embarrasing that I had to use Wiki, when I was little I knew all the greek storys (since my mother is from there)... OK, you can now blame me for being off topic, but I just HAD to say it! PSC, no probs at all that you didn't mention it, it's fully understandable, and good luck getting Virtualbox 3.1 to work 100%.

WoW! Now THAT'S advanced! You must have had a very good school-time. In my school we did not have advanced things like learning old languages :whistling: I speak greek, but I am not that good at it. (Spended some time with private greek-lessions) hehe. Some of the greek storys are incredibly good I think. I wonder if holywood could make good films of them today with all the cool special-effects. (Yes, they have done that before, but now they could make them much better I think)

You joking right?

How do you think Sergio Leone :whistling: started movie making?

Haha, that trailer looked great! Will try to see this movie this or next week. :whistling:
I know what I am about to say now is truly a sin, but I will say it anyway: Maybe this movie could be even greater if they did a remake of it today? Of course, It will not be the same quality without the writers and producers since some or most of them are not alive today.

Hmmm.. Am I the only one that can't start the program Regedit? I can't start it in any way. When i click on it nothing happends. It's not a custom-plugin or a shortcut issue, since I get this error even If i build with minimum settings.

I see that the exe exists (X:\Windows\Regedit.exe)
I haven't modified this file in any way.
I have tried everything I can think of now. Anyone has any suggestions?

You are not the only one
There is at least a second one, called psc.

But I postponed. Reason:
We are trying to use a XP world script in Win7 world. That sometimes works well, somtimes like here, ????

If in the WIM files you search for regedit.exe, you can find many different regedit.exe files. The script has to deliver the correct one, and maybe add some depending files, which are unknown / not needed in the XP world.

If you have the time, try to change RegEdit.Script and copy the different possible files and their dependencies.

I will have a look at this first thing tomorrow, as soon as work starts again!
(Yes, I am fiddling with winbuilder and scripts and so on when i'm working too, I got
permission from the boss hehe)

Laters, I will come up with an answer as soon as i find/or think i have found something

i have no special regedit script
\Windows\regedit.exe comes from the 'Build\Copy Files' script

('\Projects\Win7RescuePE\Build\1-files.Script'
in the [FileCopyStandard] section,
line #188:
FileCopy,"%bw%\*.exe","%tw%\"
and line #129:
DirCopy,"%bw%\%DistLang%\*.*","%tw%\%DistLang%\")

@Dera,
can you do me a favour and make a test:

Inside that Win7RescuePE project, which is working for you, please uncheck ALL apps, drivers, etc.
Just let remain a minimum configuration and test, whether RegEdit still works.

Thanks.

yes, in the original Win7RescuePE project
regedit.exe works

these scripts were used:
Win7RescuePE (v.13)\Configuration

Win7RescuePE (v.13)\Build\PreConfig
Win7RescuePE (v.13)\Build\Copy Files
Win7RescuePE (v.13)\Build\Shell & Config
Win7RescuePE (v.13)\Build\Copy Basic Files

Win7RescuePE (v.13)\Finalize\PostConfig
Win7RescuePE (v.13)\Finalize\Create ISO

Just from my remembering, I think that I have to look at Preconfig.

Thanks

my guess
%DistLang% is not defined correctly in script.project

When you download the latest ImageIndex.Script, you will get regedit to work in the PE.

Thanks, Dera

The Variable %DistLang% (Distribution language) is needed in many scripts.

The PreConfig script of Win7RescuePE writes the actual value into script.project.

nativeEX_Win7 does not process PreConfig, but as a little bug it also does not write the necessary value into script.project.

nativeEx uses %WimLanguage% rather than %DistLang%. So I only added the line:
Set,%DistLang%,%WimLanguage%,PERMANENT
to define %DistLang% for the whole world.

Peter
