Hi,

I downloaded my CentOS that I wanted (even though I tried so many others already just for the heck of it), and after setting up the 16GB USB flash disk that I have, it says:
Loading /ubnkern...........................................
Loading /ubninit.........................................................................

And then the PC reboots .....

This did work on Ubuntu .. but I really wanted to use CentOS ... I tried setting up the CentOS Netinstaller... but that didn't work either.
I did an md5check on them... and the files are not corrupted.

What am I doing wrong here? Is this only good for Ubuntu?

My goal is to be able to boot a PC from the USB flash disk and install CentOS on that PC.

The booting part seems allright.
The messages should come from the actual Linux loading.

The problem might be this part (NOT detailed):

and after setting up the 16GB USB flash disk that I have

Maybe you are after this:

So do you want me to elaborate on the type of flash disk I have?
Its a SanDisk Cruzer 16GB Micro.

As for the link you gave, nah, that's not going to fly cuz that only gives me the ability to install it on the USB. That's not what I wanted.
I want to install from the USB to the PC's HDD.

No, I would like you to elaborate on HOW you set up the thingy, I mean something like:
  • I made the USB bootable/partitioned/formatted with..... which uses grub4dos/syslinux/....... as boot manager
  • I created a directory \boot or ......
  • I copied from the CentOS Install .iso (or from ......) to it file vmlinuz or ......
  • I copied from the CentOS Install .iso (or from ......) to it file initrd.img or .....
  • I copied from the CentOS Install .iso (or from ......) to the ROOT of the stick (or to ......) its CASPER filesystem (or .........) which is a file named ........
  • I have currently in the settings file for the boomanager menu.lst (or syslinux.cfg, or .......) the following:
    Something like a title

something like a command with some parameters appended

something like a command with some parameters appended

    ....
  • etc., etc.

It is very possible that everything is allright but you are simply loading the kernel with "wrong" parameters, or you are missing some other file.

Even if you did not do any of the above, because unetbootin did everything automatically ;), you should post the resulting directory structure and contents of menu.lst or syslinux.cfg.

I completely understand ... my question was lacking info for you to assist me.
I don't have the full time right now to give more info (not right this moment). When I have a bit more time, I'll do that and give you more detailed steps.
