Edit: I thought there was a bug where the BCD is corrupted after edition, but it appears that this is a display problem with EasyBCD 2.2, the BCD binary content edited by BootICE is correct, not corrupted.

◆ 2013.9.16 v1.1.4
1. Fixed the "unknown boot device" bug when deleting a boot entry of some BCD files !
2. Added a "Backup BCD" button to backup current BCD as another BCD file.
3. After formatting a partition as NTFS, the default access permissions get correct, while old versions (1.06~1.13) handle this incorrectly.
4. Added a parameter "/set_id=XX" to modify the partition ID.
5. Other optimizations.

I know, but scrolling through the pages, everytime you post an update and searching for the link is a lil boring. ;)

◆ 2013.9.23 v1.1.5
1. Fixed a bug: in the past versions, if you create or modify a VHD boot entry of BCD, the device wouldn't be saved correctly. This bug was solved in v1.1.5;
2. UI adjustment. All dialog fonts changed to Microsoft Yahei font if available, otherwise, Tahoma instead;
3. The "Set Accessible" button comes back! When managing partitions of a removable disk, if you select a partition other than the first one, the caption of the button "Assign letter" will change to "Set Accessible".
4. Save some settings in Windows registry. For example, the last tab in the main window, the last bcd file being edited...
5. Other small fixes.

The Xorboot URL is:

http://bbs.ipauly.co...ewforum.php?f=3

The application title is not yet translated (still in Chinese), but other dialogs are completely in English.

It seems very powerful and is a little difficult to understand first, so I strongly suggest trying it inside virtual machine first.

@ saddlejib and @ ktp,

the point, with your links to the version 0.63, is that the downloaded file does not match the given hash.

I found another site where, strangely, the version 0.65 is discussed and on which more details can be found.

In this case the hash check is OK but I wonder if we can trust on this "new" unofficial version !!

Unfortunately, I'm at work now and I do not have with me the complete address of this site.

It is possible that there is an issue with the posted MD5, the file (0.63) is also on Wikipedia:

http://www.softpedia...k/XORBOOT.shtml

There are a 0.64 and a 0.65 versions posted on bbs.wuyou by Pauly himself:

http://bbs.wuyou.net...able&tid=157812

I would say that if the 0.65 file you managed to download has the MD5 in the above it should be "official".

Official Pauly's site for Xorboot has been updated with version 0.65.

http://bbs.ipauly.co...ic.php?f=3&t=66

The MD5 for version 0.65 is correct: note that it is the MD5 of the exe, not the MD5 of the .rar file

(it is not clearly stated in Pauly's site).

Download:

After checking, I can confirm that bbs.wuyou is just the site I referred to in my previous post.

It is possible that there is an issue with the posted MD5, the file (0.63) is also on Wikipedia:

http://www.softpedia...k/XORBOOT.shtml

In fact, looking at the history of 0.63 vesrion, you can see that there were 3 different ones, at least : test, official and final.

Probably, this caused to link a wrong hash to the downlodable file.

The MD5 for version 0.65 is correct: note that it is the MD5 of the exe, not the MD5 of the .rar file

(it is not clearly stated in Pauly's site).

Download:
########################################
v0.65(MD5:8DBB9C2DF3C88EC713EF5232B91990B7):xorboot_0.65.rar

Really speaking, in Pauly's post it is clearly written that the MD5 hash is referred to the exe file. Besides, also in the previous post (referred to 0.63 version) it was said that the MD5 was referred to the unzipped file....

Since v1.1.5 BOOTICE uses the registry to save some settings. For users (like myself) who prefer a 'stealth portable' version I have made BOOTICE in PortableApps format. Pauly has kindly given permission to make it available.

Download : https://sites.google...table/downloads

Permission : http://bbs.ipauly.co....php?f=2&t=1622

EDIT : BOOTICE Portable will run the 32-bit or 64-bit version of BOOTICE depending on the operating system.

I see that gbrao is late this time, maybe preparing the portable wrap and 32/64-bit wrap for bootICE new released version 1.2.0 ? :-)

Note that with version 1.2.0 bootICE should now be really portable since it no longer writes to registry.

1. Fixed the bug that when installing Grub4Dos MBR or PBR, the grldr file name has an extra dot, which makes the boot program can not find the grldr file.
2. Fixed the bug that when editing Grub4Dos menu, if the menu content is empty, BOOTICE could not save the menu correctly.
3. Added a parameter "/edit_bcd" to start BCD editing window from command line. It's possible to launch BCD editing from the right-click menu in the Windows explorer.
