But it didn't help actually.
If I start imdisk.exe in a cmd window, instead of the syntax I get a German error message, that the program could not be started.
As I think, that Imdisk does not contain German messages, here the OS seems to have some troubles to start Imdisk.exe
Currently I do not have the time to go into detail.

I think, that soon we can come back to our 'home' solution (=Imdisk).

I came to think about this good old thread and decided to wake it up again with some new information. Recent builds of ImDisk have a somewhat different imdisk.cpl linkage. The imdisk.cpl is still linked to comctl32.dll and comdlg32.dll, but now the links are marked as "delayed", which means just brought into the calling process when really used. Maybe this could have helped here? If it still does not work I could try marking shell32.dll and user32.dll links as "delayed" as well.
