If I start imdisk.exe in a cmd window, instead of the syntax I get a German error message, that the program could not be started.

As I think, that Imdisk does not contain German messages, here the OS seems to have some troubles to start Imdisk.exe

Currently I do not have the time to go into detail.

I think, that soon we can come back to our 'home' solution (=Imdisk).

I came to think about this good old thread and decided to wake it up again with some new information. Recent builds of ImDisk have a somewhat different imdisk.cpl linkage. The imdisk.cpl is still linked to comctl32.dll and comdlg32.dll, but now the links are marked as "delayed", which means just brought into the calling process when really used. Maybe this could have helped here? If it still does not work I could try marking shell32.dll and user32.dll links as "delayed" as well.

Hello,

LiveXP project uses MiscSettings.script and PEloader.exe to remove resources limitation.

I tried to use this script with nativeex-barebone with cmd line shell.
But I have no success.

The Iso is booted with Qemu emulator, but no shell appears.

Why didn't you use the Misc Settings script that comes with nativeEx_barebone?

Also you know, that cmd line shell means, that you just get a command prompt, do you?

Hi,

you are right, I used the script coming from nativeex.
Mine is just a curiosity, if with command line is possible the same behaviour as the one with graphic shell.

This old project is really dead. I transferred into nativeEx_barebone.
But due to actual agressions, I also stopped the support of nativeEx_barebone.

Quick dictionary (seemingly needed):

• dead project:
  a project which is not anymore updated BUT that is available to the public in an "as is" STATUS
• dead and abandoned project:
  a project which is not anymore updated AND that is NOT available to the public in an "as is" STATUS
• dead, pscExishly unavailable project:
  a project which is not anymore updated AND that is NOT available to the public in an "as is" STATUS BUT that can be obtained by PMing the Author (maybe or maybe not)

First one is good (almost, at least it's OK) .
Second one is bad.
Third one is "a suffusion of yellow".
(AND fundamentally pointless AND substantially nonsensical )

Sorry, I did not realize that.

I only had in my mind that the download server was lost with the winbuilder.net server crash (or attack?).

It is also neatly prepared for users. They just need to press the play button and Windows source wizard helps them select a correct source to build the project from.

Hadn't you noticed, the board is in an update process.

This, which normally means "everything has been planned and in due time everything will be available again" in the particular case of boot-land reboot.pro means "we are doing random tests on the live board, introducing changes in every possible aspect of the board and connected domains/links/whatever, so there is no way to know if what was available before still will be after the update, nor where it will be".
Usually this resolves in:

• a number of sarcastic comments by Wonko the Sane
• a number of things "lost forever"
• weeks or months to fix things/find links, etc. and numberless posts by people who cannot find anymore things
• NO lessons learned (next time the same senseless approach will be used)

I am going to see if I can execute the Ghost 11.5 executable from a PicoXP build.

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this, but if it isn't just let me know and I will create a new topic for it.

I am interested in using the PicoXP or WinRoot project to create a Ghost disk with a very large amount of network drivers.
After I get ghost working in it, I have an interest in getting some other tools working as well, but I am mainly interested in the Ghost part of it.
First major trouble I am running into right now is executing the ghost.exe (which is the DOS executable) or ghost32.exe (which is the Windows executable) in PicoXP.

Reason I am trying to use the PicoXP project is due to its very small size and quick boot times. Using traditional LiveXP builds take 5+ minutes to boot on some of the machines I work on, but PicoXP takes less than that. The other option I am looking at is reverse engineering how the Hiren's Boot Disk loads CD-ROM drivers and network drivers and then booting up ghost afterward.

If anyone can point me in the right direction or lend me a hand in creating this, it will be much appreciated.

You might ask pscEx for some help or to see if he has a solution to you're ordeal. When or if you find a way to do the combination to work booting the exe ghost. Please post the Result project for others interested in it to use. That is include the scripts but not the exe of Ghost. We would have to provide our own.

pscEx might bring the project back from retirement.

Maybe as an option there could be a script that could let you choose the exe that you want as the shell. That is if it doesn't need any other dependency's other then the exe file.

I'm sorry, in my archives a found a couple of older versions of PicoXP.

But none of them created a bootable ISO.

Now the good news:

The 'Pico' configuration of nativeEx_barebone creates also an ISO of about 16 MB. And this ISO boots!
