I test TM with ThinkPad Create Recovery Media and with Nero Burning ROM:
I test also other programs: Phantom Burner 2.0.0.0 and Phantom Drive 1.0.0.5 but all have problem in Nero while burn on CD mode DAO (Disc-At-Once). In TAO no any problems.
Additionally my favorite is Phantom Drive 1.0.0.5 because:
I think that Virtual CD\DVD burner software is best for create recovery media in laptops e.g. ThinkPad :-)
No need anymore real burner and make recovery media (ISO) is very fast :-)

I am not following you.
You EITHER want to create a .iso OR burn it to a "real" CD or DVD.
For BOTH you need not a "virtual CD/DVD burner", in the first case you use any of mkisofs, cdimage or almost *any* burning software (such as Nero, ImgBurn, etc that can also build an image through output to file), in the second case you need just the actual burner.
Virtual CD/DVD burner such as Total Mounter (which is Freeware) or Phantom Drive (which is Commercial) are simply "another" way to create a .iso, particularly when it comes to "recovery discs" (hand made) i.e. there is no real reason to use it with Nero or similar, the Lenovo tool to create the recovery media is probably one of the few cases when a "virtual CD/DVD burner" is actually needed (because it "really wants" to burn the disc instead of creating a .iso of it).
Or am I missing something?

Nowhere in the documentation do you tell us what version of DOS is needed. Saying that you support the Win7 internal cd-burner does not mean that it can't run on xp or 2k or whatever. Is the .NET framework needed? All sorts of missing information.
My first impression of this application was that you could take an iso in VPC and "burn" it to an ISO outside of VPC. Apparently what it seems to do is to basically do the functionality of MKISOFS, but in places where you can't run MKISOFS (ie in creating OEM recovery diskettes).
I returned a copy of Ghost 12.0 because it does not run in the environments that i needed, and replaced it with 11.51, which does. They did not say it did not run on XP or whatever.

Hmmm.

Operation System:
- 32BIT: Windows 2000 /XP/Server 2003/VISTA/7/Server 2008
- 64BIT: Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008
Hardware:
- 750 MHz Intel Pentium III class processor
- 256 MB of RAM
- 30 MB of disk space for application data
- Ethernet connection(for Mounting INetDisk and iSCSI)
What is the problem?
Please remember that the good guys from http://www.kernsafe.com/are from China, it is possible that there is a glitch (or two) in their English documentation.

Yes, I can see you don't understand what's going on. Create Rescue and Recovery software on ThinkPad X61 cannot create ISO images and requires a real CD/DVD burner to make recovery media.
The Phantom Drive software creates a Windows virtual burner that I can select in this window in Create Rescue and Recovery software:
Phantom Drive itself writes data to a .phi or .iso file.
With programs such as mkisofs, cdimage, Nero or ImgBurn, I can only make a copy of files from the partition to the iso image, but it will not be a bootable recovery disc with the Rescue and Recovery program.
Do you understand now what's going on?
