See my edit above.

New issues:
1) Also with dism selected for mount, no matter what option is chosen wims are always stored (even if the user does not want that)

The only way is to use Auto for mount & dism for creation (works very well, created wim is smaller then with InageX & much more useful - one can edit it with dism later outside the project ie add drivers etc)

2) new errors (did not exist previously)

Exec - Failed to find section [Do-Micro] in file: [%BaseDir%\Projects\multiPE\Core\2 - Core Files\2 - Build\microBuild.Script]

(had to rename section called Process to Do-Micro to build OK)

IniRead - Failed to find file: [%BaseDir%\Target\multiPE_Win7\windows\system32\ShutdownPE_lng.ini]

3) and diskpart (which worked fine in 0.65 with same options selected for the build) does NOT work any more (osuninst.dll was not copied at all - had to copy by hand, still vds does not start) - same issue like I had here

4) and dhcpcsvc.dll & dhcpcsvc6.dll copied to build are in fact fonts (not the dlls) - had to copy them by hand

#1: On my system Mount with DISM works well. Maybe this is an issue with ghost folder C:\multiPE_Depot (I fixed this now). Check whether outside your multiPE install drive there are additional multiPE_Depot folders in other drives. If yes, delete them.

#2: In the uploaded version 67 that is correct. Did you upgrade to 67 by individual single files download?

#3: I added osuninst.dll to the build. Currently no opinion about vds. I need more time to check.

#4: Happens that also with stored WIMs?. I have had a comparable "wrong file" with SP1 source at compmgmt.msc. It contained a valid XML but with very strange content. No opinion right now, whether there is an SP1 source issue with every mount, not only with Vista-ImageX mount.

I do not have ghost multiPE_Depot

I upgraded by individual single files download (was OK in my previous version 0.65)

Just checked & http://multipe.exec-...croBuild.Script

does NOT have Do-Micro any more, yet Title=Copy Files 100.12-files.Script calls it during the build (this script seems not to exist any more, it was from 0.64 & never got removed from my system)

osuninst.dll is needed, but not enough, again something that was working fine in 0.65

Yes, these 2 files were problematic even with stored wims (I remember from previous builds)

Milli is missing from http://multipe.exec-...tiPE_latest.zip dated 18 Jan

I ditched updating by single files & re-downloaded the lot, replacing the whole project

On W7 x64 host WRONG ImageX is being used in auto mode

multiPE_Depot\WaikFiles\WaikFiles.6.0.6001\amd64

WaikFiles.cfg had wrong entry (even the interface was selected correctly), but no matter what I do it always insists on WaikFiles.6.0.6001 folder

Had to copy content of WaikFiles.6.1.7600 to WaikFiles.6.0.6001 in the end to get it working...

Please read the corresponding release note.

Maybe that and / or reading the original download page, explains some other troubles (e.g. upgrade by single files).

EDIT: ImageX from Vista (6.0.6001) is used intentionally for Fast Mount.

@sebus

Tell me which of your complains are still actual, when you:

  • Download the multiPE project 068 into a new directory.
  • Define a Win7 SP0 source directory (a real extracted ISO, no mounted CD)
  • Run the project w/o any modifications

Add the complete log.html to that post

I do not have SP0 available, might have to dig it out

I really do not like an idea of extracted DVD

But I can tell you that with my setup & the whole new download for Micro currently ONLY:

diskpart does not work

Thanks for all your help!

sebus

EDIT:

For vds to start (and diskpart to work) 3 dlls are missing:

ifsutil
ifsutilx
fmifs

Good evening dear Peter,

I have tested Yours newest Multipe project with Windows 7 source and i have found out, that Yours newest approach to live CD based on Windows 7 installation source is The best, which some Windows PE based developer have even made.

I have also tested WIndows Xp installation source and i can now run NVDA with no issue.

I have found out, that Host driver UI is simple, i must only press TAB once followed by pressing ENTer key and NVDA will work.

Somebody modified hostdriver.exe, very probably You, there is excellent checkbox run NVDA after exit.

Did You had to use resource hacker to implement this feature?

Or You had to please hostdriver developer do implement this behaviour?

Peter, i would like to publicly apologize You, that i have wanted to add support to WIndows 7 or even Windows 8 live project based on Multipe.

I have found out, that XP source is really The most stable platform for creating live CDS based on Windows PE, and memory allocation of The project, which is based on XP is really The less one.

Because You have repaired some previously occurred hidden bugs, i could even create bootable USB media without .img file, NVDA is not loaded from RAM. And everythink is working excellently.

But i Am fighting with very sad circumstance.

Because i Am visually impaired, i AM helpless to use most modern atnvirus programs to scan The host system for viruses.

NVDA is allocating approximately 32 MB of RAM and when using system with 512 MB of RAM, it is not enough to load Clamwin portable database to memory.

Dear peter, do You know about .sys driver, which would force Windows XP core to use virtual memory even on USB media?

On USB harddisk?

It is very harddrive corrupting to use setpagfile.exe to use virtual memory on The same harddrive, which is being scanned for viruses.

So dear Peter. do You know about some .sys driver, which will really work and will enable users to use USB harddisk as The target drive for virtual memory while running MULTIPE?

Thank You very much.

Do not be afraid, i do not want to use USB stick as A virtual memory storage.

Really USB harddisk with rotating plates and with magnetics heads.

Thank You very much for Yours help.

With kindness regards.

Janusz Chmiel

Version 69 is uploaded.

What's New in Version 69

  • Added ifsutil.dll, ifsutilx.dll, fmifs.dll to the standard build
  • Save configuration before single file download, and restore afterwards.

The latest glitches found by sebus :1st: , are (hopefully) fixed.

Single file dowbload:

All files (for XP, Vista and Win7 tracks) are stored on the server, as they are seen under the XP track.

That currently gives an issue:

When you actually are in the Win7 track, and use WinBuilder's download center to download single files, this file is downloaded with visibility, selected, etc. how it is under XP track.

As result, it may scramble your actual Win7 track configuration.

Now, before downloading single files in WinBuilder's download center, the actual project configuration is saved.

After download it is restored.

That implements a small change in Winbuilder 83.0.0.18

When the file %BaseDir%\preDownload.cmd exists, it is processed before the download.

Accordingly same with postDownload.cmd.

Can you translate "track" to English?

Seriously, what you mean by "track", I simply cannot understand your use of the word. :dubbio:

Are you meaning Pfad/path?

"Track" is my personal invention to describe the different ways to build the PE :smart:

This verb is used through the whole project to point to XP, Vista, ...

I used this word as "railway station" image.

Here "track" is the physical hardware lying on the ground which is used for trains for different directions.

Another possible name should have been "platform". Please tell us your question to that

I really don't get it. :frusty:
Is it a verb or a name?

If it is a name, and it is a shorthand for an hypothetical similitude to a "railway track" (for something that you haven't explained), you normally are NEVER "in" a track or "under" a track (you can be ONLY be "on" it or "off" it).

You know, like "being on the right track" or being "offtrack".

"track" is one of those English words that can mean "everything" or "almost anything".  :(
 http://www.thefreedictionary.com/track

the above counts 14 meanings for it, and if you check this:

http://www.dict.cc/e...tsch/track.html

it can seemingly render 17 "exact" German words. :w00t:

In any case, when you invent a word, you should AT THE VERY LEAST provide a definition for it and possibly use it properly and consistently along to that definition.
And ;):

Spoiler

MInd you it is a bit since I lost any hope in actually understanding your posts (particularly those related to MultiPE and it's development) but besides the "inventing" of new words  you seem lately like giving for re-known a number of concepts/ideas/approaches that you implemented in a project but that seemingly you never explicited on the board in detail .

Let me explain it simple and easy:

multiPE is the only (IMO) project which can build PEs from different XP, Vista, Win7 source CDs.

I created the label "track" to tell which source has been used.

It is a label I decided in my project and defined in my project.

The label is pure individual and propably 'random', and could also be e.g. "HeyWonko" or "pscExBlaBla".

To your expertise: As you know, I like necessary facts as desription (text)  included in a post. I follow links only, when I assume that they bring some informative knowledge to the post. Otherwise I ignore them. Therefore, let me remain stupid, w/o the knowledge of facts (?) you offer with different links in your above post.

Peter

If you make a program or components in it, you can call it what ever you like

Kinda like a poetic license

It would Be nice if the titles could make scene to everybody reading the Source

But at the end of the day its the programers prerogative

A track generally leads somewhere or to something.

So the XP Track e.g., could be thought of as leading to a Live XP Build.

Get over it Wonko, honestly there must be better things to do on Sunday?

Not really, it was raining outside, so I came to the board to learn new, strange words. ;)

Another likely activity is to invent some new ones or to make acronyms.

As an example I just invented freaksie (to define a freaking senseless interaction experience) to be used in expressions like

Wow, what a freaksie I had on the board last sunday.

or:

Naaah, nothing serious, it was just a freaksie, get over it.

or:

The number of freaksies you can have on reboot.pro is astonishing!

... and the acronym SEBUS (for Someone Enjoying Bugging Us Senselessly :whistling:) .

In the latest upload of version 69,  there was a terrible bug, which really did, what was intended to avoid: It possibly scrambled the actual project when using WinBuilder's download center. :frusty:

I did a silent new upload w/o changing the version number.

The fix can be downloaded here: http://www.nativeex..../myOptions.zip.

Unzip into %BaseDir%

Also another one:

wim image got created with dism (that what I wanted), so I could service .wim later (mostly adding network drivers)

To my surprise dism would not play with this image:

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 6.1.7600.16385

Error: 50

DISM does not support servicing a Windows Vista RTM or earlier operating system.

If the operating system is supported check that SSShim.DLL is present.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

even the info states:

<VERSION>
<MAJOR>6</MAJOR>
<MINOR>1</MINOR>
<BUILD>7601</BUILD>
<SPBUILD>17514</SPBUILD>
<SPLEVEL>1</SPLEVEL>
</VERSION>

Not a problem, back to old peimg for adding drivers, but still:

C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools>peimg /inf=X:\drivers\Optiplex390\32\*.inf "C:\mount2\Windows"
Preinstallation Environment Image Setup Tool for Windows
Copyright © Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

The image directory specified is not a valid Windows PE image.

PEIMG failed to complete the operation with status code 0x80070002.

It turns out that Users folder is missing, so the image is not treated as valid by peimg

Please add the users folder to the build

@Janusz!

Good news!

I managed to run ClamWin portable in an USB booted XP PE from a Virtual Disk Drive.

All steps have been done manually, and now I have to write a script doing that automagically.

That will work not only for ClamWim, but for any other portable app the user defines.

The only open question is memory: On my test system I have 4 GB. I do not know how to restrict to lower values for tests.

Maybe Google or somebody here is my friend ...
