USBSupport defines an UpperFilter 'VolSnap' in 'CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{71A27CDD-812A-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}'

Hi Peter,

I'm just wondering where this is defined in the script. I cannot seem to find it in the actual script or in the encoded .reg file.

Thanks,
Galapo.

Hi Peter,

in attached .reg translate the hex into ASCII:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{71A27CDD-812A-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}]

"UpperFilters"=hex(7):56,00,6f,00,6c,00,53,00,6e,00,61,00,70,00,00,00,00,00

"Class"="Volume"

@="Storage volumes"

"EnumPropPages32"="StorProp.Dll,VolumePropPageProvider"

"SilentInstall"="1"

"NoInstallClass"="1"

"Icon"="-53"

"Installer32"="syssetup.dll,VolumeClassInstaller"

Thanks for that Peter.

Strange thing is, I see I have a few different versions of the script laying around since I now see we were looking at slightly different scripts.

Version 10 is the one that is on the LiveXP server and has the UpperFilter in question defined: Attached File  USBSupport.Script   36.88KB   448 downloads

However, in a different local folder I see I have a version 12 which doesn't have it: Attached File  USBSupport.Script   21.66KB   361 downloads

Question is: is either of these functioning properly?

Regards,
Galapo.

And another question: does Thuun's rendition do better?

@larsm

I just tested v.12 of the USBSupport script and Paragon HDM8. I was able to perform partition resizing operations, partition creation, formatting, and drive letter assigning. It seems to me the script might be working fine as no reboot was required between any of these operations.

v.12 is now on the LiveXP server.

Regards,
Galapo.

Did anyone notice that HotPlug isn't working? At least not for USB-Sticks.

I'm pretty sure that this used to work at some time. :)

I haven't noticed because it still works for me!

:) Really?
I extra downloaded LiveXP, build it without any Apps and it behaved just like naughtyPE. Devices pluged in during boot would show up, devices later pluged in, would not show up.

Are there any dependencies on other scripts?
Or are there known issues with certain chipsets?

:(

I don't have an answer to either question. For me, usb stick not plugged in is able to be hot-plugged after boot. Same with usb mouse if using the other script for that (which has to be run after the usbsupport.script).

I think Thunn is taking a look at his own usb script again.

Galapo.

Thunn has build a fine new version, but it's stuck at the same point v12 is. That'S how i came to test the LiveXP script, in the first place.
So anyone else with a nForce chipset having troubles with hotplug too?
Or better with which chipsets is hotplug working?

:)

In LiveXP using USBSupport.Script Version=12 Author=Radoi Ovidiu,
an acronis script
and the AddRemoveUpperFilters.script Version=004
I noticed the following strange behaviour:
when I use the AddRemoveUpperFilters to remove and add PartMgr
in the reg entry SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} UpperFilters
I can see this value: 'snapman PartMgr'
in this sort order
and in this case hot-plug does not work with my USB stick,
to be more precise: get the system tray icon but in the explorer window I cannot see my USB stick drive letter assigned
when change the sort order to 'PartMgr snapman' (as it is in the original plugin by Acronis) hot-plug works fine
Anyone noticed similar problem?

Thanks for reporting dera. I'll edit frodo's 'addremfilter' code to take this into account.

Galapo.

New version of 'AddRemoveUpperFilters.script' has been uploaded which keeps 'PartMgr' at the front of the value.

Galapo.
