Sorry to disappoint... next time I'll start the Service, and have 256MB (limit in my current project) ScratchSpace, just to see if it can mount.

I had the WimFltr Service started, and tried to mount with Wim Mounter... error!
So started GImageX, and tried to mount to the 'Wim Mounter\mount\' folder... wasn't really looking at the interface. Error: the image file is in use! Had a look at the interface and down the bottom it said image was already mounted in 'Wim Mounter\mount\'. ? Looked in the folder with FreeCommander... nothing there! Back to GImageX - unmount: no error. Mount it again: no error. In FreeCommander - still nothing there! Unmount. Mount on C:\mount. FreeCommander: Yes, it's all there....
What's going on?

new version uploaded, with that two buttons, and a output file that is in the same dir as wim mounter.
so please check which way installs the wimfilter, and screenshot the outputfile contents for me ok?
Damian666
p.s, the output file is filled after the mounting of the image...
if it works or not...
p.s.2 why do you test this if you use gimagex?

CMD: net start wimfltr - invalid. Wim-Mounter-PE: Vista way... Error. Click OK. CMD: net start wimfltr - invalid. Try Vista way again - error... screenshot.

Reboot. The XP way...

Same as above except 'CMD: net start wimfltr' was able to start it. Note that it wasn't already started because it would have said so.
Hey! I use diddy's CMD-line imagex menus as well!

Maybe someone can give it a go on NightMan's VistaPE... ther's a bit more Vista OS in it.
You know what I like about this Program... two buttons and a drop-down and I'm looking at the files in the image I want (not yet in WinPE ...). With GImageX, two tabs, three buttons... and I still don't even know which image index I need.
I'll play around with it, see if I can find out anything.
Good Luck...

indicates that the way to install it is on the XP way.
so that is fixed, now i could always try to change the mount folder to x:\mount.
which you say works, care for 1 more try?
Let me know man

yes, thats why the error appears.
the program is checking the existence of the windows folder.
that should be there right?
or am i mistaken?
Yep. 'Windows\'. That's the root of WinPE on the left-hand side, mounted on the HDD without a problem.

yeah, but i dont use x:\, i use @homedrive which is the same as the main drive...
so tell me what to do then, should i define it expressly to c:\?
would that work then?
here we go again man
damian666
I'm fairly sure it would work with hardcoded 'c:\...' in most cases. WinPE assigns drive letters in the 'default order', so 'c:\' will normally be on a hard drive. However, it can also boot without any hard drive...
Some portable programs, like portable Web Browsers that are designed to run off a CD, can write to specific Temporary directories on HDD.
If you can't mount to x:\, then c:\ would be second best. If you feel like making a hardcode one I'll try it out on the VirtualPC. At least you got the WimFltr Service Starting. It took me a while to figure out that the 'XP way' only installed it, and the 'Mount' button actually started it ... ... now you can combine the two.
