I installed it.

But really I can not understand what is that for and how it could help bootland.
This is new for me,so i really can't understand how and why should i use that
to be help.

Please some one tell me about this topic in easy words

Dropbox is a tool that runs in your computer, it creates a folder on your desktop called "My Dropbox".

All files you place inside "My Dropbox" gets uploaded automatically to their site and only you see them.

If you lose the computer or something bad happens, those files will be safe on dropbox and you'll be able to get them back.

Do you remember the link on the email message?

It was a referral.

Each person that clicks on the referral and installs dropbox gives an extra 250Mb to our boot land account on dropbox.

The boot land account has grown to 10Gb which is more than enough to backup the forums (we only needed around 3Gb).

I keep the files of the forum software of boot land synchronized with a folder that is placed inside dropbox, this way the backup is continuous.

If the server goes down, we can still access all the files from boot land and recover the site in case of attack. Since all files are automatically versioned, if some change is done that has gone wrong, we can also revert the changes to a previous state.

It's a handy tool for desktop users but it is also very good tool for server maintenance.

No, once your files are synced (green dot), they are stored in dropbox' servers and can be accessed anywhere, even if your machines are off.

2)-We must pay to have drop box or pay to service?

You only have to pay if you need more storage capacity (50GB: U$9,99 per month or U$99,99 per yer / 100GB: U$19,99 per month or U$ 199,99 per year).
if you don't need that much, you can start with the free package (2GB) and receive an additional 250MB for each of your referrals that install dropbox, so you can have up to 10GB for free.

I'm not sure, but I guess yes. It just will be slower than a turtle .

4)-How many disk space is needded, (just 250-MB)?

What do you mean? The installation package is around 13MB and once installed, the program uses 24MB.
(Hmm I just realized the setup installs the program files to %APPDATA% and not %PROGRAMFILES% )

No. Each person that signs up gets an individual account.

You can use your computer without any changes. The storage gets synchronized when you get online. As far as boot land is concerned: you can even stop using dropbox right after installing it once and uninstalling right away.

It's completely free but you're restricted to 2Gb. You can upgrade to 50Gb but it will cost 9 USD per month.

Using referrals you get 250 Mb per each person that follow your link to try out dropbox to a max of 8 GB.

Sure, mine is also dial up. You only spend bandwidth when files are changed on your disk, if you don't touch them, no bandwidth is used.

For you to use dropbox I'd recommend you keep 2Gb free on your disk but this all depends on the files that you put there.

Yes, adrive seems like a really cool way to get 50Gb but they offer no integration with other OS's in the free plan nor backup history in case things go wrong.

Dropbox still beats them in those points.

Nevertheless, I'll keep it in mind for bulk storage or extra location to keep files as well. (I hope they allow FTP upload).

They give you 25GB of space for Free

Yes ,you're right on some points re the free account,but look at the difference 2 GB vs 50 GB.
The Signature account does offer the features you mentioned

It's a risk. Dropbox has a well tested tool for ubuntu that integrated really nice.

Yes, but the goal is keeping everything free from costs for as long as possible.

50Gb is a good suggestion for big periodic backups that are made on static basis but in overall when looking at adrive and dropbox, I still see the later as the way to get the most advantages for free and better shape to remain themselves in business for a long time.

As for skydrive, it would always be a conflicting relationship with MS to keep away all the linux hacks from working. It's wiser to choose a solution that has no issues in embracing and supporting other OS platforms.
