Hello,
I have installed Windows7 Prof. SP1 + all updates on a USB HD. I used PWBoot to patch it and modified manually the USB registry keys (BootBusExtender) in CurrentControlSet and ControlSet001 - 003. It worked fine for more than one year. Frequently after some OS updates I had to change the registry key "Start" back to 0, but besides that no issues.
Unfortunately a few days ago I had a BSOD dead again. As usual I connect the USB HD to my laptop and boot directly from the internal controller. But this time no registry key has changed. I thought that maybe something got corrupted and restored a backup I made a few weeks earlier. At the beginning everything worked fine. I Updated the OS and after I finished installing everything I could use the USB HD for some days. When the issue came back I used the Laptop the day before as usual. Not installations and it does not look like there was another OS updated installed that day. But still I am getting the BSOD again. I used PWBoot again and the program showed that the OS is not patched. I patched it again, checked the registry again but it still not working. I also compare the other USB Boot bus extender parameter with my backup and can’t find any difference.
Anyone an idea what else I can/should check ?
Appreciate your support
