The checkmark checkmark is working on the Animation on Network Activity.
If I try to start the share service without a user name or no password I ge the prompt about needing one.
If I use a name and Password I can browse from a real computer shared stuff on the Virtual PC.
Even though i get the message. The Sharing process still proceeds and continues until it says it running. On the real PC i get Minint is not accessible message.
The stop sharing still does not stop it.
Thanks for the Quicklaunch addition.
Whats the difference between Sharing and Network Drives.

Thats just an info message to let you know that you need to input a username first before you can connect with shares on the WinPE.
"Whats the difference between Sharing and Network Drives"? - this is a joke question, isn't it?
With the stopping I will do some tests later...
Thanks so far

My message was garbled with too many ideas.@TheHive: don't understand what you mean with "...prompt about needing one"?
Thats just an info message to let you know that you need to input a username first before you can connect with shares on the WinPE.
Ok! When you try to start the Share service and you get the prompt that you need a username and password. If you click on the prompts OK button. The service still seems to start. So you dont get a chance to input a username and password before starting the Sharing service.
No! Its not a joke. I haven used a Network Drive before. I was thinking it was just a Shared drive on the Network."Whats the difference between Sharing and Network Drives"? - this is a joke question, isn't it?
Can you explain the difference.
ok!With the stopping I will do some tests later...

"Network Drives" are folders that others shared for you.
So I would explain these.
With the sharing: maybe I will completely remove the messagebox and make only a tooltip with that info...

For network drives you will assign a drive letter on your computer that will link to the network share - this is very usefull for software that doesn't support network names, so that we can use network files as if they were placed on our disk..

Sorry, sometimes I don't/cant't understand it correctly.
The problem was in the internal stopping function - the depended services stopped but the service itself not - only if it was the only service to stop (normally "Computer Browser" should always be started - read next line)
There is also/still a problem which I try to fix - sometimes the "Computer Browser" service do not start - even if it should...
Next version should be available tomorrow evening.
Thanks so far
Holger
BTW: with VISTA this is the first time I can browse the Internet over WLAN while communicate with my 2nd PC over LAN at the same time

No idea, what I meant was just normal working under VistaSo its working with Vista PE also.
On my system with XP installed earlier I never had a chance to use both interfaces (WLAN and LAN) at the same time - now it seems to be no problem here...
I use my 2nd PC for testing thatswhy - I use a crossed connection to my default PC.
VistaPE-testing comes later - as I had written (if it is still needed then)...

Works like expected
Don't know what the problem could be in private locations...
I can browse the whole domain and the servers/computers in it.
Also it is working browsing over Start -> Run.
"DNSCache I will not activate again, cause after that ComputerRenaming it seems it takes to much time to change the entries on the DNS servers - works also without it.
The "ComputerBrowser" ends also normally after a few minutes - like on a normal XP-PC, however, network browsing is just working normal.
So I will just take back the DNSCache service.
I think I had been easier if I had first test it here ar work where you really can browse networks/domain...
So long...
Holger
Edit: nothing more right now...next version are coming in maybe 21 hours

What happens if you just click on the Start button without inputing a username or password.
I ask because you can just click on the Start button without a username and or password and sharing starts.
Update to upper question: Is this right
I can browse my own Shared drives.
On real PC your asked for Username and password. I see why you recommend atleast a username.
Pressing the Stop works this time. It stoped the Browsing service properly when using no username and password.
after trying to browse to the Workgroup from a real PC and being asked for username and password and then cancelling this login window. Then closing the Real PC My Network Places and then Pressing the Stop button on the PNM I get an error message. After clicking the ok button the Running is still active. Trying to stop it again stops the service.
Update: I just noticed the Warning message telling me it might take some time from starting and stoping the service to fast.
I read the Note part wrong. I was thinking that you could use only username and a blank password. lol! I tried it and it didnt work. So I would recommend update to:
Note: to connect to the shares of this host.
You have to at least enter a username and a nonblank password.
Now I can see my shares from VMware on my Real PC.
The Sharing is running.
If I open the PNM gui and then click close and PNM closes. I restart PNM and the username and password are gone. Im not able to stop the service even when its giving me a message that it is "Finished". I left it alone for a while and then tried to stop it again. This time it stops.

I couldn't connect to them because they are protected by passwords. But it is an interesting feature
Can somebody else check with other wireless devices if it is working? I'll check it with two or three more when I get to my office later.
If it is working it would be greate to have a small facility to enter a user name and a password to connect to WiFi network
I was also trying to adopt PPPoE pluging from BartPE and a few starting steps are good but then it complains that RASMAN can't be started with current configuration I think this is needed for Dial-Up support too?
The script uses netcfg.exe from WinPE. Is it possible to use startnet.exe for replacing it?
Not directly related to the topic but there is a very interesting and free RasPPPoe protocol installation tool (this protocol is used by a lot of ADSL providers around the world). If somebody can make a script with this protocol that would be great!

I did some tests with the WLANAPI-patch.
So, in a/the new script there will be a link to download first the WLANAPI-patch from MS cause the API of the existing wzscapi is really not really documented
@sepa: do you also try to connect it with a real username, cause in WinPE the default user is "SYSTEM".
I will further testing with the new version and so on when I'm back - in 1 1/2 weeks.
So long...

The 'Network Places' folder gets content if you add
RegHiveLoad,"WB-Default","%TargetDir%\i386\system32\config\default" RegWrite,"HKLM","0x4","WB-Default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced","WebView","0" RegHiveUnLoad,"WB-Default"to your script.

How to do it? There is no question about user name and password. I got error message right when i enter computer name or IP. When i try Bart's XPE with PENetCfg - then i can connect to shares on other computers normally, without any passwords or something.do you also try to connect it with a real username, cause in WinPE the default user is "SYSTEM".
Heve a nice time =)I will further testing with the new version and so on when I'm back - in 1 1/2 weeks.
And another bug found. Network could't start on 2003 as source: "error starting TCP/IP service (2)" =(

Your script is great!
Some time ago I found a topic on MSFN.ORG about Unattended WiFi WEP passwods. I'm attaching some files I downloaded that time and there is AutoIt script inside. Have a look, maybe it could be usefull for WiFi stuff

Edit: here is a small preview of the things I'm working on.
Some other changes/fixes are also done, like network drives history and for network shares user history...
For WiFi it will take a while cause I will work on it again if I'm back home cause I cannot do some things(Programming/scripting/testing) here...
